Hi guys !
I’m a returning player and i’m having trouble with subscribing again due to the region (eu v. us) limitations.
I’m a EU player and i have a EU wow account but since last month, I’m now living in Canada for 6 months. I thought that since I have a EU wow account i had to buy a EU 60 days prepaid card (managed to find a code here) but it seems that I can’t use it on the “redeem code” page of my battlenet account.
Does someone know what I should be doing ? Like would it work if I buy a US time card even though I’m playing on a EU account ? Or should I just contact the support directly ?
Thanks a lot !
US time cards will only work on US accounts. At the moment, your only option, because Blizzard have gone really retentive about region limiting, is to buy gametime directly from the EU online shop:
https://eu.shop.battle.net/en-gb/product/world-of-warcraft-game-time
But before you click buy now, double check how many days you are buying (it now defaults to 6 months worth I almost got caught out by that). Also check what currency its presenting to you. If its US dollars, then they are redirecting you to the US store, don’t buy it as stuff from the US store can only be used on US accounts.
Alright, thanks for the quick answer.
Does that mean that I cannot in any way use the EU 60 days prepaid code that I have in my possession before I go back to Europe though (I didn’t buy this time card on the battlenet shop just to be clear) ?
If it is a genuine EU prepaid card, it should work on your EU account. If it doesn’t, check you are logged in to the EU region and not the US region when you are trying to redeem it, and also read the actual error message its giving you.
It is a code for a 60 days pre-paid time card EU indeed.
But the error message isn’t that helpful " We can’t process the code at this time. Please try again later". I’ve been trying for a few hours now ahah
OK, thats not an error message I’ve come across before. So you might have to wait for one of the Forum Moderators (Blues) to come along riding on their Squeakers, and explain it.
Sorry I can’t offer any further insight.
Thanks for ur insight anyway ! Sounds weird that they don’t come across this issue more often, I would assume that i’m not the first to travel back and forth from the EU to Northern America !
I play on both the US and the EU realms, I have friends on each.
But I buy my gametime online, via the Blizzard webshop, and I do have to admit it is getting harder to buy US gametime from Europe. The shop keeps trying to redirect me to the EU shop instead.
Heya Aearl!
Trovlak did cover alot of the points there about the differences in region so I won’t go into that too much. About your code though, I would find it odd if you found an EU region code outside of the EU as they generally don’t travel that far
Best thing would be to reach out to our support team so they can double check the code and see if something can be worked out to sort it. For the future though I would echo Trovlak’s advice and purchase specifically from the online webshop when buying game time for your EU account.
As long as the price is in euro’s, you’ll know your buying the right regions game time.
