The same happens to a guy I know. He always has multiple acc open but only one got banned instant.
So dunno what triggered only that one account.
A question: if I have a mouse we’re I can make it to automatically scroll for an unlimited time - is it considered automatic. And will they ban you for this?
Keybind frostball to scroll down or up.
Turn it on and spin it - it will continue for at least a min by it own.
But dunno if that is an illegal action?
I mean every keyboard and mouse have such features nowadays, that may be a lot does this. And therefore get bans for automatic stuff (hack, not blah blah)
I understand you got an email from Blizzard about this. DId they really say “botting” ? I would expect something like “Unauthorized external program use”. Not “botting”.
So what did they write exactly?
What they usually write from what I’ve seen on screenies is
“Offense: Use of Bots or Third-Party Automation Software”
Blizzard never say “botting”. Your lying.
I honestly hope this ban is true and it is committed because of the reports. I have never believed any of our report will have an impact on bans or fixes. This kind of posts have really positive consequences especially on encouraging reports.
When I started playing Vanilla almost 15 years ago, there was a bot which recalls at start and after that never move one bit, it puts himself on follow, choosing the closest person. I have reported him maybe over 20 times, tickets after ticket. He have never being banned and after that point I lost my faith on reporting tools.
If this is true, I will definitely start reporting for cheating the people who I believe using bots. I already reporting the AFK players as AFK, but bots are different as they play almost 24 hours a day.
Peole getting banned, because mass peole report them (happens with higher rankers few times already).
Ban system Pretty sad at current moment.
Shame blizz used to be propper with there cheating rules and bans

That does come under the term of automation for blizzard. Every action requires a manual input… but here’s where it gets silly… if you were to bind frostbolt to mousewheel and spin it non stop (frictionless mousewheel) that’s not automation… if you were to bind mouse wheel interact with and then set it constant spin that is automation. That’s the entire premise of an auto clicker…
A lot of mice and keyboards have additional G keys which are programmable now as well. I know I have them, and while those keys are legal, it is not legal in wow to set them up as steps…
For instance I bind G1 on my keyboard to Alt-Shift-p and then bind Alt-Shift-p in game to say frost bolt… that’s perfectly fine…
if I bind the same G1 key to say Alt-shift-p on down stroke and alt-p on upstroke that is also fine and not in breach of botting rules
But if I bind it to alt-shift-p and then to alt p on the same press (basically a macro sequence) that is botting and not allowed…
so be careful with keyboards and mice with additional buttons. I know a few people who fell foul of bans because of them
According to Blizzard every report is checked and with no proof of their own they won’t ban.
Something is suspect with the OP.

could very well be morphing software if you (OP) are 100% sure you didn’t use any actual botting software. Caught a 6 month ban in WoD myself for using tmorph back when it was big.
I did mention both the programs mid thread and got no reply about it.
Did you use any addons like gatherer?
The only reason you are sharing your take of woe is to fish for the reason your exploits got you banned
Let’s face it - you obviously saw it coming and probably know why
Because if they had taken to banning folk for no reason the forum would be full on complaints

This is how all gambling games ends up with unless you are seriously lucky or leave while being ahead.
Earn a lot of money with gambling and before you know it you lost more than you came with.

Addons won’t get you banned. If/When addons do something Blizzard does not want addons to be able to do they simply change the API to not allow whatever it is, they have before a few times, the one I remember the most outcry both for and against banning it was that thing that could “paint things on the ground”(It wasn’t really just an interface thing tilted to look that way) during wotlk for making positioning during boss encounters more easy.
