Sudden Loss of fps

Hello fellow players,
Since patch 10.1.7, I’ve encounterd a sudden lost of fps. My laptop is in “gaming” and “high performance” settings (like before) but I can’t seem to past over 30 fps in the dragons Isle. Before this, i was maintaining 60 fps or above everywhere in the world.
Do you expérience this loss as well ?
What can I do to improve this ?
It’s really frustrating

first thing, disable all addons to see if it’s happening becaue of one of them.

  • update your drivers & windows , especially if you have an nvdia gpu they keep sending out new updates these days.
-check if the game is working on your gpu and not the onboard one
-bios update could help too but i don’t think it will
-see if there is anything else running and filling up your ram at the same time (again very unlikely)
these are the ones that came to my mind sorry if i wasn’t helpful

Are you only noticing this in the Dragon Isles, but not the old continents of WoW? And are you noticing this everywhere in the Dragon Isles, even in remote areas, or just in Valdrakken? If it’s just Valdrakken, it’s probably because new patches make lots of players re-sub, so lots of players will be around Valdrakken, and that will slow down graphics rendering.

The following WoW graphics settings could cap your framerate:

  • Vertical Sync
  • Max Foreground FPS Toggle
  • Target FPS

games performance has gone downhill this expansion for sure.

but i dont think thats what you are refering to here.

dungeons like brackenhide hollow are very cringe to play since my fps dips in the loe 50’s. and its for no apperent reason IMO, not like its amazing looking.

I think there are some boss encounters in Dragonflight that have buggy implementations that butcher performance.

  • The 1st boss in Halls of Infusion sometimes makes my FPS drop massively when those player-dropped pools cover a large area.
  • Forgotten Experiments raid boss makes my frame-rate and sound output lag in the 2nd phase when it does that AoE thing that one has to run away from.

Thanks you all for your kind responses. I’ll check everything when I come back from work

Most likely is a broken addon due to the new patch. When a LUA errors occur it has to be handled and uses more system resources. If it happens often it’ll slow down your client.

Yeah i have a Lua errors message popping up when i log in

disable or update those addons and if update doesn’t work then try to remove them from WTF file (first get a backup so you don’t lose your addon settings)

If it’s persisent then it’s most likely not the issue i will mention.

Still, for anyone using windows 10, probably 11 too, and uses slideshow for wallpapers… It lags the entire damn computer for a second or two.

Yes, the built in windows wallpaper slideshow lags windows when it activates. How they managed that is something.
