Suddenly no sound out of speakers (only via Bluetooth Headphones)

Suddenly today, sound will not play out of the external bose speakers attached to my Mac Studio. For all other applications - sound works as normal.

I have followed the troubleshooting guidance and everything appears correct.
In my WOW sound options I have ‘System Default’ and ‘Nosound driver’.

If I connect with bluetooth headphones, I initially also have no sound (if the game is already running), until i go into sound wow options and click the right arrow next to ‘system default’. This doesn’t change it away from system default - but magically the sounds then comes through the headphones. Previously if I connected headphones with the game running it would auto switch and the sound would flow through them as you would expect.

If I keep the headphones connected and quit the game, but then restart it - sound is working immediately through the headphones.
If I connect the headphones to the Mac via bluetooth before i launch the game - then sound works through the headphones.

If however, I turn the headphones off - sound does not then revert to the main speakers as it should.

I simply cannot get the sound to emit through the normal speakers anymore. The speakers are connected via the headphone socket on the Mac Studio (so in Mac Sound Settings - headphones is the output selected.)

So to be clear - headphones are working via Bluetooth (not via the headphone socket).

I notice though that if I set the Mac Studio settings to ‘Mac Studio Speakers’ (i.e. the built in speakers) - still no sound works from WOW, but again all other applications are ok.

As mentioned - been through troubleshooting steps including renaming Cache/Interface/WTF folders - but to no avail.

Help! What’s changed?

Does anyone from Blizzard have any suggestions on this?

Hello to both of you,

The Microsoft Teams program is known to cause sound problems with the game. If applicable, please uninstall it to see if it makes any difference.

If it’s still not working, you can try the steps of this article :

If it’s still persisting, please submit a ticket with your diagnostic files + the Sound.log file (located in the “Logs” folder), our teams will be able to do some checks.

Thanks very much for the reply - appreciated.

I did have teams installed - so have removed that.
I have also been through all the trouble shooting steps - unfortunately this has not resolved the issue.

Do you have any other guidance? Any logs that I can access / send in that can provide any info?

UPDATE: Seems i missed the text below the box - apologies - will send in requested files- ty !

Thanks!

Just wanted to update this thread with the resolution - in case useful for others.

Early on one of the troubleshooting steps was to remove MS Teams. I did this to no avail.

However, it appears an extra step was needed to manually remove the sound driver as per:

This step has now successfully resolved the issue.

Thx Blizzard for the technical support provided on the associated ticket.
