He is talking about raid loot. This changes nothing for m+.
TBH while I raid with friends many times (and helping them with loot), I would be ok with that.
It would not change anything in guild settings, as people will just pass/greed if they use loot council, or use need/greed anyway.
Something that would never happen as that directly hinders RWF guilds.

RWF guilds would not be impacted by that at the least. In the splits they are doing people are getting paid to be inside.
It would change nothing for them, since people would be asked to just pass/greed on the items and trade them.
In the RWF everything gets auto passed to 1 person and then people off-screen have spread sheets, log info, role info and sims to determine who should get each item. The loot then gets handed out after everythings been checked out.
Cant do all that in the small amount of time it would take for the roll bar to deplete.
Maybe we should stop worrying about those whose livelihood is based on WoW existing.
In the post the OP clarified about NEEDED items. That does not impact items won by greed roll.
What they are doing now would still work the same if everyone passed and the leader pressed GREED. It would still go to him, and he would still be able to trade since he did not press NEED.
You’re missing the point. i don’t care about them but blizzard does. If this effects those guilds then blizzard won’t change it.
Putting it that way, this makes the system much better. Though I do wonder if they won’t do a thing in the community where groups will ask everyone to greed or get kicked.

In pug setting it’s pretty hard to enforce that, because there is no repercussion and people will just not accept it if they can just go another pug. The people that want the item will just need it and either equip it, or sell it or vendor it.
For guilds or coordinated groups, people will just pass on gear and the rl will press greed to take it and distribute it. Some addons already do that and have the autopass option. Yes there will still be ninja looters in guilds, but those are always in there.

Honestly just add personal loot back as an option or proper master loot
There will be such runs, I’m pretty sure, but as player I can choose whether I accept such rules and stay or decline and leave that group. Currently I see bunch of people needing items just to sell them on /w and I can do nothing about it. Especially on mythic it would be wasted lockout.
Also in case of transmogs and treating Need button as transmog - honestly, I’d unlock transmog for given item if you just saw it drop, both sides happy.

No. If i can trade and am fine with it why not. Otherwise i can say no.
At best remove the ability to need (this requires lower ilvl trinkets to be dogpoop)

when you get an offhand which you will never need but can not trade it i agree so poop
just make it personal loot like before .problem solved
