Suggestion: Improving PvP Flexibility with Dynamic Stat Allocation

Currently, the PvP gearing system creates significant barriers for players who want to switch between different specs within the same class. Each spec often has different secondary stat priorities, which makes it hard to remain competitive without maintaining multiple sets of gear.

For example, as a Druid, Feral prioritises Mastery while Balance focuses on Haste, and on top of that, as a hybrid class their primary stats differ — Feral uses Agility-based weapons, while Balance requires Intellect-based ones.

This creates a serious problem for players who want to enjoy multiple specs without falling behind in progression and undoes the fluidity of the talent system.

While the new talent system allows for easy spec switching and talent loadouts, the current stat system still locks players into one spec unless they invest time and effort into separate gear for each one. This issue is further compounded by the fact that conquest cap is lifted 12 weeks (or a quarter of a year) after a season begins.

Until that cap is lifted, players essentially have to choose one spec to focus on, limiting the flexibility and fun of PvP. The current alternative is to level, maintain and gear an alt of the same class - which is mind-bogglingly primitive in comparison to the level of development that has gone into the games systems.

To address this, I propose introducing a dynamic stat allocation system where primary stats convert to the active specialisation, and that Versatility grants a pool of points that can be redistributed across secondary stats depending on the active spec.

This means that if a Druid switches from Feral (Mastery and Agility) to Balance (Haste and Intellect), they can adjust their Versatility points to compensate for the difference in stats. This wouldn’t eliminate the need for gearing entirely but would make switching between specs far more viable and enjoyable, especially early in a PvP season.

This change would:

•	Allow players to switch between specs without being punished by gear limitations, keeping the PvP experience fun and competitive.
•	Make gearing feel more rewarding, as players won’t need to grind for separate gear sets to play different specs at a high level.
•	Ensure that the 12-week period before the conquest cap is lifted doesn’t lock players into one spec for the majority of the season.

This dynamic stat allocation system would make PvP more fluid, fair, and fun, allowing players to fully explore different specs without being held back by gear mismatches. It enhances the player experience while maintaining the importance of gearing in PvP.

We had stat templates in Warlords I think and went away from them.
I don’t think we will get them ever again
Wow is a RPG after all.

it was Legion and they were dictated by Blizzard, so if you played say a Frost DK Blizzard would hand you - random numbers here - 15% vers and 10% haste and 25% mastery and 20% crit.

the ret paladin one i remember being particularly terrible. it was all pumped into haste, crit and vers with minimal allocation to mastery. i mained paladin at the time and trying to do damage as ret made me want to cry

Oh yeah now I remember…

I think at some point I just gave up on PvP at that time.
