Suggestion: Make frostbolt cast on move

Mainly a PvP suggestion really.

Fire is in a strong because it can do most of its damage quickly, with no ramp up, and largely on demand and instant, whilst frost has a build its damage up, but has amazing sustain, and I think this is a nice distinction between the specs. Once you have Triune Ward, mage feels fairly nice to play, and a lot of issues would probably iron themselves out if we see nerfs towards general burst.

Frost feels like a good spec, and feels good to play, it just has issues with how difficult it is to currently cast spells at the moment.

What I was going to suggest, is doing something along the lines of turning Ice Floes into a passive talent that allows you to cast frostbolt while moving.

I don’t see this as particular game breaking or overpowered. You can still kick a mage to stop an ice block, the precedent exists with Scorch and having Ice Floes up. Hunters can slow by Steady Shotting into a Concussive Shot already.

When you have Ice Floes up, it feels nice, you don’t feel impotent.

Being able to Frostbolt on the move will allow us to use the specs “momentum builder”, whilst also allowing a good deal of counterplay against the mage.

I don’t think this would make frost overpowered. I do think it’s a bad design choice.

I keep saying: We need to tone down mobility and up-time, being able to “ignore” game mechanics has lead us to the PVP situation we’re in just now.

Mage is well designed currently* - and these forums would be a lot quieter if mage just had 10%-15% more damage in PVE scenarios for frost/arcane, with zero gameplay changes.

*other classes however are just utterly broken.

This is what I’m talking about with my friend atm lol. The other specs than fire are well designed, but the amount of uptime melee have has made the others kind of obsolete bar some niche comps or w/e

I think it could potentionally even be broken in a sense.
Frost is heavily build for anti-mobility, so giving it too much mobility like this could become problematic.

Frostbolt already slows by 50%. Throw Frigid Winds for aditional 15%. And throw in Frostburn to give Frostbolts 15% chance to freeze for 4 seconds. Doing all that while being able to move is kind of stupid.

Even without that. Backpeddling is 64% speed. So mage could backpeddle while frostboltng someone and they would never be able to catch the mage without movement ability.

This. Also frost spec as a whole is very weak in pve, in pvp its even worse. The spec needs even bigger buffs for pvp than it needs for pve in my opinion
