Since vanilla, even after all the changes warlocks have gone through, we. still. have. the. same. pets…
Voidwalkers, Imps, Succubus, Felhunters.
Even after legion where we are considered THE ALL MIGHTY NETHERLORDS, we still have the same demons as if we were still lvl 30.
What i’m proposing is a system where we can capture demons. Old ones, new ones, a spell where we can try to enslave them with a 50/50 chance it will backfire and attack us in rage.
Outland demons, Wod demons, Legion demons, any demons.
Even in old raids where some demon bosses have unique skins but would be much more challenging in enslaving (boss).
This would add more lore and identity to the class which is in desperate need right now.
All of them would fall in three distinctive types:
Tank, DPS and Control
I don’t think i need to explain that.
In the end, it is a really simple addition that could greatly benefit the warlocks by adding choices, customizations and diversity.
And this is never a bad thing
According to lore we can only have lesser demons as pets, which we obtained in vanilla through rituals. We can control strong demons as infero/doom/commander for short time. Think of that: Imps are actually weak version of satyrs, we cannot have satyrs as pets.
I don’t recall any warlock that is manipulating great demons, not even dreadlords can do. Demons meant to be creatures with personalities and unlike Hunter’s animals is hard for other classes to control minded beings. Priest can mind control for limited time; DK can control undead for limited time (except ghoul); Shamans can call elemental for limited time. Consider that Mages have same pet since tbc
We used to have permanent Inferno and Doom for few years yes but that was a plot hole. Blizzard even tried to give us Dreadlord as pet but plan was abandoned as soon as they realised that is going too far.
Demonologies have Bombers, Hounds, all pets coming from Demonic Gate and all warlocks can have pet glyph s that change pet’s appearance.
I can agree with you that we need some more choices. Raid, pvp, M+ requires only felhunter, which is boring enough.
I agree about everything you said but if we stick to the lore, it is more of a handicap than an advantage.
When lore is keeping us from having diversity and is making things stagnant, the lore needs to be changed but just enough for it to make sense and fix those problems.
With everything that happnened with Arthas, Deathwing, The Sha, Draenor… we even defeated the burning legion for heaven’s sake XD All that must be enought to have made us powerful enough to permanantly summon more complex demons.
Adding Lesser demons like Wyrmtongues, Felbats, Incubus sounds more logical to me. I have seen many times this argument before but I doupt Blizzard will ever be close to give us that flavour
We became master summoners in legion but don’t get tricked here! We changed Azeroth history in last 14 years but demons live for like an eternity in Netherspace. Our powers can’t be compared to mighty Demon Lords.
Hmmm not exactly. See Blizzard is clever on how we deal with strong enemies. We did not kill Arthas, we supported his father and argent crusade to kill him. We did not kill Deathwing, we simple Helped four Dragon Aspects do do their job, along with Thrall. We are not even close to defeat Legion! Legion is great, there are billions out there, we only protected our land, we are only won one more battle. Don’t forget that was not the only time Legion lost the battle, you can refer to war of the ancients and warcraft 3 .
Some things are good to change yes I agree, but do not overdo it. I believe what killed subscriptions are the times which blizzard mistakenly changed changed warcraft lore. Now if you could excuse I am going to puke cause I just remembered Pandaria
Not just too much work, matter is what kind of work.
Our demons need whole new wrame, not just spell rewamn or something like that.
We need more fast and responsive AI for our demons, better tools to command them. And from one side, blizzard can give us that, but they will never do that, because if pet AI will became more advanced, it will have it’s tall on server performance and stability.
Oh for heaven’s sake if that is too much work for them, then give me the tools and a few weeks of training and i would do it for them for FREE
I did mods and scripting in other games so might not be too much different
Remember the MoP questline to get green flame? That Warlock was able to control a pit lord, so if anything what we can control is decided by ‘plot convenience’.
That said I was severely disappointed that Legion or post-Legion had no new pets added for Warlocks. I mean we have so much more choice in all types of demons, I did expect them to throw in an inquisitor or a fel-bat. Instead, Warlocks even lost their doomguard and infernal without anything in return, It’s frustrating to know your character suffers from Alzheimers and randomly loses spells.
Especially Demonology Warlocks that lost most of their abilities to the new demon hunter class, but nope, you know what players want. MORE IMPS!
If you noticed what I said, Greater demons for short time. Most hard part of the fight was when pitlord enslave expired and need to re enslave him.
Also never liked legion demons or art concept: That was not warcraft, but a bmovie with space demons. I prefer demons from other expansions or wc3.
The problem begins my friend with Illidan lovers. Illidan is a hunter, warrior with warlock abilities. That is perfectly explained in wc3 and books. But ppl did not want to accept that warlocks are the actually demon hunters.
Sometimes is better for us and blizzard to simple ignore fan demands.
