Another thing that came to mind while setting the alarm clock for Monday morning… What if similar abilities were consolidated into 1 ability with Empowered stages? For example:
Resto Shaman: Simple keypress / click uses Healing Surge, longer press above 1.5sec changes it to Healing Wave. Or even better with 3-stages: Simple keypress uses Riptide (as long as there is a charge available), keypress between 0.7 and 1.5sec uses Healing Surge, keypress above 1.5sec uses Healing Wave.
Mages: Simple keypress / click uses Barrier, longer press changes it to Mass Barrier (as long as it’s ready to be used)
etc. for all specializations. This could reduce button bloat without requiring CTRL / SHIFT / ALT modifiers, which means that combinations of Empowered abilities with key modifiers also open up for larger variety of abilities with less buttons required.
TBH there are so many talents and trinkets and tier set, and buffs and so-on that can totally change when a spell is available to cast, or what it does, it’s hard to imagine spec where you just cast 1 2 3 1 2 3 these days
I can’t say much for BM as I’ve barely played it this season, however ret has more procs than any other class I’ve tried, especially with divine purpose, the one thing that’s not orderly is a ret rotation.
“Playing the keyboard like a piano” is how I’d describe it Some people prefer “hit the spell that lights up”
Not for everyone. Would just like to see this combat type. Maybe if they add a new class in the future like a void one for example, or even a tinker. Though I think Tinker would fit pretty well with the empowered abilities
They could do it with a gunslinger for example, where you do a certain combo of shots, and then the shots become empowered and all do something different like turning into a rocket launcher, or whatever
