I think that would be fine if it wasn’t limited to 4-5 entrances per week, as it stands as far as “Challenging solo content” goes in WoW. All I get is just under 2 hours a week.
I’d happily do this thing without rewards just to practice.

I play healer and I really want this content to be relevant to me if I choose to play solo. It’s completely infuriating how some dps specs are capable of steamrolling this whereas I have to either seek buddies or play a suboptimal dps spec just for the sake of getting a cloak upgrade.
Agree there, its quite fun and comes with a bit of chalange, what i like most is i can play it with friends no matter if we are 2 or 4 online atm. But the fact u can enter like 4 times a week (and u have to do like 6-8daily q for that which i ignore) is killing the fun.
The interesting thing is I actually love that I only get REWARDED for my runs 4-5 times a week. It makes those runs count, and there is something to be said for stepping into the unknown / having real stakes every now and again.
I do like that there’s a limited attempts on it though.
It makes it feel more rewarding and doesn’t shift the entire focus to it.
If you can run it whatever times you want people would just spam it, ruining the entire purpose of it.
This is why I made this topic, because I feel like it is still a new system and it needs some more love.
I think with a longer horrific visions, it would mean there would be more complex mobs and players would be able to show of their skills.
As in you can no longer zerg the boss down before it even casts it’s abilities.
P.S : For all the ranged players out there, you can put the orb down ( the one that restores sanity ) and pull a ton of mobs while you’re still on top of it, essentially giving you a big pull with 0 insanity lost.
I think ranged isn’t as unfairly treated as a lot of players think, it’s just that not many ranged players are able to utilize their classes as needed.
Another hint is that you can change specs during the vision.
So you can go tank > pull everything and nuke it down > switch dps > kill boss.
always keep out for potions and green ones especially since those give back 100 sanity.
Its already hard for some people/classes and its clearly not forgiving when you make mistakes or just die. I would leave them as they are right now~ they are fun.
I think the concern is we’re looking at it as a challenging solo content track, when in reality its also a core system of 8.3 that literally everyone is engaging with, to get what has been marketed and presented as another artefact.
Cloak progression is something everyone needs to be able to do. Not because everyone deserves legendaries, obviously. But because everyone needs corruption resistance.
They are being forced to play a part of the game they don’t enjoy in order to play the part of the game they enjoy. And they are being forced to play it regularly. You not understanding that and insulting them for it is also part of what’s wrong with this game.
It’s understandable they want to get it over with as fast as possible. I want to get worldquests over with as fast as possible. I would despise it if world quests were longer and more tedious. I understand where they’re coming from, even if I don’t fully agree.
Maybe make it neverending(kind of) just make some kind of area with mobs and bosses and stuff and just push as far as possible, making it harder with each mob u kill, even the best of best will come to point where mobs simply 1shot them… Something like proving grounds but more fun and some kind of rewards behind it (tmog, titles, mounts, pets etc…) also should implement some rotation to said mobs and maybe spice it up with some afixxes…
Anyway, i get your point, here and in OP, just wanted to point out that 20minuts (average for most players ive seen so far) is pretty fine for solo content imo
They’re tedious. Not difficult perse, but I want them easier just so I can do them faster. I don’t like them.
No u.
I prefer doing things solo; in my own time and on my own terms.
Unlike most other content, you can do them solo or in a group. In a group it is easier, so you can choose between a harder and an easier version. I feel there is no need to “nerf” the solo option because there is a difficulty choice.
I disagree. But that’s fine. To each their own.
This! THIS!
OMFG why wasn’t this done from the start? Tbh, I hadn’t read into it, and when I was hearing about visions and how they were for everyone I assumed that there would be something that made them sensible for people who didn’t main dps… like you’d always have a party of 5, and island AI would be used to make up your group, allowing you to go with 1-5 players as desired.
Turns out assume makes a… butt… of u and me…
Not to mention that current advice seems to be “run with 5 dps”. Meaning I’m forever going to be last-pick for visions, since my dps set and skills are sub-par, and I will probably never get a 5-mask clear because nobody wants me to do the thing my gear and skill set is aimed at - i.e. healing parties in dungeons.
I like the concept of visions, but the implementation if you don’t dps very well is indeed “horrific”.
My main issue with the visions is the gating; I wouldn’t mind the difficulty if I could replay visions over and over to practice and get upgrades. As it is, after several hours of doing dailies over multiple days, I finally run a vision… and woop, I messed up, sanity gone, vision over after 5 minutes, hope you had fun!
I also agree with the more player control aspect: I would especially love to see ways to recover sanity inside the vision, in a more granular format. Right now sanity basically just feels like a ticking timer that you can’t do all that much about; it would be more interesting if there were ways to bump it back up OR maybe take a risk of losing more for a greater reward… but as a choice inside the instance, not just a pre-set modified. Decisions during the run like these would make each run more unique, and players would have more control over the difficulty as well, taking risks as they please.
Oh I’d love a proving grounds mode, I was so inlove with proving grounds that I set out to get the top rogue spot on my server back in the day, in which I got it at round 96.
Tell me one thing, but honestly, is such feedback even relayed further? Because He got one good idea that I think it may work - bodyguard system with items/talents.
I had exact same idea when horrific visions weren’t even planed - about the time chromie scenario was released. Love it.
Awesome to come back to this thread today and see further cool ideas being shared On that topic:
Yes.
Also as I havent seen it mentioned, some hotfixes did go through last night regarding the Horrific Visions. Not quite followers but may help make it easier for you solo healer/tank folks. We have the hotfixes posted up at this link:
I have to say that I do like the Horrific Visions
however I do not like doing the grind to get the currency to play them
Sometimes I will only do one zone other times I just give it a miss shame really as when I do play the Visions solo or in a group I do find them fun
I do like the the idea of having companins and the upgrade system mentiond it sounds a bit like the followers but more interactive
adding to that maybe you can rescue companins from the vision it self
I also have to say if there was a practice mode ( no loot / reward ) I would run that
I feel the loot is way to low, i completed x2 bonus and main boss with mask active and i got 420 gear
It would also make it more fun without having rewards. Then only the challenge would stay Now it is just be a melee dps and get more high gear and more sockets. I am also M+ playing for the challenge.
