i am not sure if this is the correct locations for this topic.
I am a returning players and i ended up in a lot of disappointments that do not have to be there.
The AH!
There is hardly anything on the AH and everything that is there is really expensive. I found out that Blizzard made some changes to prevent automated transaction and undercutting. I know this has been a pain but the solutions could be much easier.
Make the first 150 Transactions per day free of deposits (just charge the AH fee when something has been sold) this way you motivate people to put their stuff on the AH but not flooding with single linen cloth and or reposing glyphs 600x per day to undercut the competition. Just increase the deposit costs when the seller has an unpleasant AH behavior.
Consolidate all AH’s
With enchanting materials there is a cooldown of 1 second to change the material… why??? this is causing RSI. either remove the CD or just give the option to mass process orso.
When given a boosted character. give the character a 30 Days heartstone that can teleport to all spawn zones to pick up the mandatory quests to progress. Else the new players or returning players are lost and need to check out 3rd party website to progress.
Last but not least: Archive characters that have not logged on for a year. Remove the name, guild, server from the char. Once the player starts playing again he/she can choose the server of their friends or a server that actually has fellow players so the player can experience MMO instead of a single player game. Benefits here are as well that names will become available again and if players really want to keep their name they just need to pay for their subscription. Very simple and works for both Blizzard and the players.
I have to agree.
Went to post some materials on an alt and the AH deposit was insane, it was asking for over 100g per item and I was only selling a handful for a few hundred each.
I just didn’t bother.
I couldn’t disagree more with your 30 day hearth stone idea though.
Being lost is half the fun of an MMO, it’s supposed to be an entire world. Besides it’s hard to get lost with how details and interactive the map and quests are now. They literally tell you the portals to take.
Your archieve idea is also bad, it just wouldn’t work nor would I want my characters name freed up after 1 year. Maybe I just dislike an expansion or I’ve had a lot going on IRL.
That would have a massive impact on the economy and not necessarily in a good way. It may benefit sellers over buyers, so people stop buying or it benefits buyers and so people stop selling as it isnt worth it. Part of the server group economy means that there is not necessarily always an abundance of items, meaning people can make money and spend money. If you consolidate it ALL, prices will drop too much and people wont be bothered to sell.
I’m not sure what you mean here.
The problem here, whilst a good idea, is that most zones now have a vast level bracket. So there is no set path of progression, the player chooses it. The heroes board currently has the starting quest options available for the level bracket which then leads to the quest chains.
The database would not be able to accomodate a player not assigned a realm. I also fear that players would eventually exploit this for free transfers, play other toons for a year, then move the one blizzard as deactivated. A year is also a rather short time for a name free up in my opinion. It used to be that an entire account had to be inactive before a GM would name up, now they do it after two expansions which is too long in my opinion.
Yeah massive impact or no auctions… not sure what is more important. I can’t level a profession because there are no materials on the AH.
Once there is massive supply of auctions they could split it up again but right now the AH is useless.
With regards to the enchanting materials. just logon, make dust and try to change it.
The hearthstone could be 15 days or 1 week or whatever is seen as a good level for starting. the heroes board only works when you have followed everything from the beginning. else you are doing lvl1 quests as a lvl100 character. this is very boring. I understand that there are some OCD players that believe that the would need to do every quest on every character but that is only less than 1% of the players.
I don’t know what the correct time would be for the archival of a character. i believe the process should be in place. the window and settings and operations of this specific process can be changed accordingly. of course the database is not able do that, that is why a process could be build to fix this.
Also with regards to the AH. players are motivated wrongly right now which results in a useless AH. I have seen this a lot in the past with Wow from the beginning… Blizzard is changing things (could be anything) to prevent something to happen because some exclusive events. the fix is most of the time worse than the problem. basically that is why i quit playing a couple of years ago together with 100’s of thousands of fellow players.
They would really need to think through on what need to be accomplished and what would be the impact for the rest of the players.
@Dottie… If the last player in a guild has not logged on for a year. You can archive the guild that goes with the last character alive in the guild, once it pays again, it chooses the name and the server and there you go… if you are concerned about the social interactions… last century Blizzard introduced real id’s so don’t worry.
With regards to the AH… yeah only on empty realms… there are none, wake up. most realms have at least one player… the idea of my suggestion is to create a working auction house again. I started again with wow because the Wow that we all signed up for in the beginning is coming back.
And i hope that blizzard has learned from the history (loosing 90% of the players) because they have been listening to players that have the largest mouth instead of the majority.
farming is for everyone who plays this game solo. As you might understand, WoW has been designed as an MMO but yes, it has moved to a single player game. I understand that you like to farm for every piece in the game but you are part of the 1% ocd players. The rest just want to play the game and help each other out, interact, and sometimes even farm a bit.
I guess you dont get it Dottie. this will happen unless nothing happens and the guild will stay there for ever doing nothing. you are either new to the game or you are just trolling with those answers. good luck.
Only short term… The economy would stabilize eventually, though it could drive certain people “out of business” so to speak as they couldn’t compete with all the new competitors.
I’m for consolidating AH’s, but I’m biased as I’m on a small server so the AH rarely have what I need, and if it’s there it’s beyond stupidly overpriced because there’s just one guy selling it.
some quests don’t work. for example, i need to take portal from Azimuth isle to darnassus. but the portal is not there. I understand that someone new or with OCD wants to do all the quests and everything repeatedly. For me this is just a necessary evil and I just want to move to new content asap.
It is a very demotivating when you can do 1 or 2 quests, open a ticket and wait 1 or 2 days and repeat.
It would save Blizzard a lot of time if people would get access to the new areas where they can start the new introductory quests.
You are talking about an MMO but doing all the quests solo (not during the hype of a new release) gives the opposite experience and the game becomes tiresome and boring instead of social and compelling.
People with OCD mostly don’t care about interaction with others and prefer straightforward canned content whilst others prefer to experience freedom.
When I read your comments, I understand you are part of the OCD players. No offense but you don’t have the capacity to understand the people who don’t have this gift.
If you have played for a long time you know that leveling is not a solo play. In the past we had to wait 2 hours to get online and get in a group asap for questing. Nowadays you can’t group up because everything is created around canned content (preferred by the OCD community) and you cant join in on quest line from a friend unless your nose is exactly as long as your friends nose.
i am not talking about flying. the quest wants me to take a portal. the portal is not there, i cant continue quest… very simple. the quest is called; “A summons from moonglade”. It literally says: 0/1 Take the portal from Azuremyst Isle to Darnassus.
this is just a stupid detail but very demotivating because now i am typing on the forums and opening tickets instead of playing the game. If i would have a “magical” stone that could bring me everywhere where i could need to start a quest to progress i could have been playing the game instead of typing here.
as you might understand i am not to keen on doing all the content again i just want to get from a - z asap. i understand that you need to reward players with a bit mandatory content but if you would do so, make sure it works or create an interactive workaround as i suggested in my opening post.
man… you dont get it. i know it is single player crap but that was not why wow has been designed. it has been designed as an mmo but because a couple of years the mmo part was removed from the game it’s a single player game nowadays with the exception of a couple of top guilds.
It has moved to a solo type game because it’s player base has changed and evolved. It is no longer full of people who did not have a family, spouse, or kids or even a career.
When I first played about 14 years ago, I could devote more time to it, Now I have a career, kids, and a wife. I cannot spend much time raiding or in WOW, so my game experience is mostly solo and I am sure it is this way for others now.
