Just noticed that for some reason my GPU maxes out, cant even keep 30fps with RT on. RTX4080. Happened after the prepatch I guess?
Be sure to check your addons though, those have been mostly the reason for these kind of things. (at least I recall this from every past expansion and not up to date addons that such things happen in game)
Addons aren’t going to max out the GPU, trust.
Or well, they can, but only if a dev is trolling really hard. He has to actively be rendering millions of models for no reason for this to happen. And even then, the CPU would probably bottleneck due to LUA first.
I don’t know why the GPU is maxing out though. Seithan, have yo updated your drivers? Have you checked your render scale? If it’s above 100% you an get surprisingly bad performance.
Oh sure, I did not mean to say that this was 100% the case, just that in my experience it was mostly the case.
Seithan, you can also try to disable all addons and see if you still have your GPU issues, if so then it could be driver related, if the issues are gone it could be an addon issue, then enable them one by one to see what addon causes it.
Something wrong with your set up
I’ve got a 3080ti and I’m hitting 90-100 at 4k with everything turned up to 11
Not in Emerald Dream you’re not, that zone drops even a 4080 to 90 fps at 4k without RT and everything else maxed, liquid details are destroying it and a 4080 is about 40% stronger than the 3080. I think that compute effects have also had a big impact on GPU since Shadowlands too.
Yes partly .companies are continuously lazily adding extra fluff to video games, even old games like wow, which adds effects but also at the cost of GPU power and sometimes its poorly optimized…take ray tracing for example, although its not in WoW, its an FPS killer for some minor improvements in clarity
RT actually is in WoW but it’s RT shadows which are always nearly useless in every game. I wish they added DLSS because it can also serve as a great anti-aliasing solution aside from fixing the GPU usage creep since zones are eating more and more of the GPU for no visual difference.
Well it’s RT shadows that do not respond to any light sources, but instead makes a fake light source near your character, but it’s invisible.
The tooltip says it does, but it doesn’t. Go near a camp fire, a lamp, a light post, a brazier, lava, whatever glows; none of them work.
It is by far the worst implementation of raytracing in the video game industry. It’s not even close.
It’s sad, because I think WoW with raytracing could look amazing.
It was set at 8k plus goodies for some reason. All back to normal now.
False alert.
Yeah, super resolution. I knew it.
Glad you got it solved.
