Whenever i raid atm, it drives my FPS down into the ground, and i mean that litteraly. I go from 144(i cap it at that intentionally). Down to ~30, i’ve changed settings to just generally being low ( The “raid / Bg settings” ). But it didnt really change.
I’ve gone from intel’s 14 gen due to it dying, to :
AMD 's 9950X3D ryzen 9.
Also got a 5080 Super TUF OC.
Obviously the game is ran off an M,2 (9100 pro) in this case.
Are there any issues wow has with amd’s CPUs or something? Basically besides quite litteraly my PC, no ingame settings were changed initially, and it ran fine before.
It’s not your PC, it’s just how WoW has been optimized. It is a very old game, heavily impacted by the CPU, not so much GPU. I have pretty high-end machine myself as well, with Intel i7 14700KF and 4080 SUPER TUF OC. Running on M.2 Kingston FURY Renegade ofc.
You might see a few FPS increase if you disable majority of your Addons, but otherwise I wouldnt cheer up that much tbh.
Well the weird thing is, when i was running my 14900k before it melted to a pile of hot steaming trash, my FPS was ~ 80/100. But 30 is just ridicilious, hence the confusion
Sounds like either an addon issue, or also quite possible, that WoW is not running on the 3DV Cache.
Obviously that would have a huge impact on performance, especially in a game like WoW.
Maybe this thread helps:

This is why i would never recommed the 9950X3D over the 9800X3D for gaming, unless you need the extra CPU cores for productive work ofc
Did you do a fresh install of Windows after switching CPUs?
Yeah i got the 9950 for a mix of things, and ofcourse a fresh install :P. However i did copy over the addonj/settings to the “new” wow location, as i didnt fancy losing settings, not sure if ‘wago’ has a repair option for addons ill have a look.
The 3d cache CPU is however being used by all other games, (tarkov hunt showdown warthunder etc). Would be weird if wow would be the only one not on the cache, guess ill have a look
Yeah, better safe than sorry right
Just make sure your addons and also WAs are up to date.
You can use some apps like CurseForge and WeakaurasCompanion for that.
Next step is to check if any addon or WA is causing performance issues.
Look for lua errors or unusually high CPU cycles.
Might as well disable all addons and give it a try, see if that helps and it’s actually an addon/WA issue.
Is your CPU boosting properly when playing WoW?
You might also want to check if your Renderscale is set to exactly 100% and nothing else, it is still a buggy broken mess after almost a year and kills fps.
For Nvidia GPUs, DX12 is alot faster than DX11.
