Survival Hunter

Hello everyone,

So while I guess this has been brought up before I will continue to bring it up until we get some sort of remedy.

I play Survival, it is the spec and class I enjoy. I also enjoy mythic+. These two do not mix very well anymore. The shear amount of groups I have been kicked out of simply because I am a survival hunter is beyond count at this point. Shadowlands was good to us(eventually), we got some insane set bonuses, but alas everyone stopped playing it and now we are back to C/D tier yet again.

I have no real quarrels with the damage of the survival hunter, it’s not bad and if played optimally it can dish out decent numbers. I do however have some issues with the fact that we are unable to bring anything to a group besides tranquilizing shot(which is only really sought after while enraging affix is active) and we have BL/Hero (which now 3 other classes can also provide). We take up one melee slot without adding anything of value, neither in terms of damage output or support. There is no reason to bring us anymore. While the other hunter specs also have this issue, partly, they are ranged which gives them an edge, also they have far stronger on demand burst damage.

We desperately need a raid and/or group utility that makes people think “We need a survival hunter”. I wouldn’t say no to more dps either, but thats not a core issue at the moment. I was hoping for something, anything in the upcoming patch… but sadly we were looked past.

Now i know there will likely be the same old arguments:

  • survival had its time
  • survival was always a pvp spec
  • nobody plays survival
  • Play with people you know then you get groups
  • get good

So please, add constructive feedback rather than trolling.

Thank you for reading my rant

I’m playing also survival hunter and I share your feedback.

I’m also getting kicked from groups for not being MM spec’d. Blizzard caused this with the nerfs noted in their patch notes. This cannot be intended right Blizzard???

And it was definitely a wrong decision to nerf us in the first place.
Survival Hunter has a learning curve and Blizzard should know/understand that it should be compensated a bit.

There are other classes like monks that are shredding everything at the moment. With less effort/buttons to press too.

Blizzard should act on this and they must boost our damage output. AOE and single target.

Also, Soothing (tranquility) should be a basic ability not a Talent!! Now it impacts my Talent Build to much.

Damage is something to be discussed, I don’t think thats the main issue at the moment though. I can dish out a good 45-48k overall dps in a m+ at ilvl 388 so I think thats ok. Survivability(oh the irony) and utility is our main issues at the moment I find.

While I understand your concerns the whole Hunter class is in danger, we dont bring anything unique to the raid environment and MM is now having it’s burst harshly nerfed in an upcoming patch so dont think you’re alone here.

Even now its hard to find a group for dungeon as a mm hunter but after nerfs it will be impossible. Basically, if you are not raiding with a guild, you wont raid at all. Nobody wants a hunter.

Would love to play SV, hope to one day in the future when its hunters turn to not be bottom of the pile again.
For now, it’s dead, along with BM and MM.

its not just the surv hunter m8 its hunters in general who got the hammer if you are a casual like me you could say i don’t care but if high end game is your goal then you better reroll.

I agree to a certain degree. So while the other hunter specs are not performing as well as hoped for at the moment and MM is being kneecapped, I think that with the number of people who play BM/MM there will more assuredly be tuning in place sooner rather than later. Survival is in an odd situation where very few play it, the only time people swap to it is if its overly powerful(i.e. Shadowlands).

Yeah I get that, I didnt roll that train MM has been my life, BM is boring and I can’t play melee it’s just not my cup of tea.

The way you feel about MM is the same on Survival for me. So when you feel anger towards the recent changes in MM you can imagine how Survival players feel all the time

SV could definetely use a buff.

Yeah no. SV and WW are equel when it comes to buttons and the learning curve.

no need to reduce buttons tbh, plays very smoothly atm, just needs the X-factor tbh.
