I have a question, does the bomb build deal more damage than the spearhead one in PvP?
I have always liked the spearhead build more than the bomb oriented build, but when it comes to DPS, which is better?
My spearhead build:
B8PAIlFMjeNhnEouGfV8Ij2uSRgWIBIBBJkEJRiERSKJBAAAAAQEpUkimDQChESoBAAAAI
My bomb build:
B8PAIlFMjeNhnEouGfV8Ij2uSRgWICIBBJkEJRIJRSaRIAAAAAQEpUkimDQChESoBAAAAI
(btw, I honestly think these builds are pretty much optimal, but if you have something to say about them, be sure to tell me please, don’t want to miss out on bonus DPS.)
It depends on the situation. There isn’t a clear-cut better build.
The bomb build:
more consistent damage
you can double bomb and have 2 bombs ticking at the same time
Spearhead build:
second burst window
more mobility
I personally never play a non-bomb build. My spearhead build still has bombs:
B8PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQgWICIBBJIRyBcgIJRSaJhAAAAAARkSRKaOAJESIhGAAAAgA
Edit: I also noticed that your spearhead build lacks “Serrated shots” on the hunter tree. The idea behind spearhead is to ramp up the massive bleeds, and you’re not boosting the bleeds.
Edit 2: I’d suggest you look up “Bicmex” - he is the best SV player in the world and has everything explained on his YT channel
The real answer is to use both. As many buttons as possible.
Personally, I go without Serpent Sting, instead relying on Volatile Bomb (may take 2-4 casts to get it) and Mongoose Bite to apply it. May not be everyone’s cup of tea, but every Eagle CD it’s possible to gamble a bit and spread it at least on the off-target and kill target. You can also cleave whenever it’s possible to be in melee.
I use Spearhead more like Bicmex uses it, as a long charge/getaway from zugzugs to the healer. Spearhead from 50 yds > Harpoon if u have it, so they are rooted, wait for death/whatever, maybe tar trap to fake them out more, then trap.
Spearhead > trap works a lot of the time alone, since it’s so damned fast. One very big downside is that Spearhead cannot be used with a normal [@mouseover,exists,harm][@target,exists,harm] if you already have a target. This is the only spell I can think of this happens with.
You have to either use a standalone @focus/@mouseover macro or target the healer.
I believe in survival (hence the spec name) > damage. When you’re dead, it doesn’t matter if you did 3k more DPS. If you focus on staying alive first and foremost, it will be very hard for anyone to chase you down, and you will get more space to damage once they give up and train your melee buddy instead.
