When you play so much for years, many things become so familiar that you don’t really think about them much, and don’t really associate them with anything external. But when you take some time off to do irl stuff and then come back after a while, you notice a few things here and there.
The layout sorta resembles that of most big american airports. I kinda went with LAX due to Blizzard being based in LA, iirc and due to the new wing opening recently which reminded me of the Tom Bradley West gates expansion that happened in the real world at around the same time. I guess Andromath is the tower’s TSA, with his landside portal and everything.
Once you’re through you’ll notice that the concourses and all the portals resemble airport gates with the casters being more or less the gate agents. It’s nice when devs take inspiration from real-world systems, facilities and other utilities or whatever and inject it into whatever it is they’re making.
