They are only testament that someone potentialu spend enough $ to but gold and boost runs nothing else. I have all aotc mounts even though i havent raided seriously since late mop - after this i was buying aotc when mounts were a reward. Same is with Ce and glad mounts they are just much more expensive be ause you have to but much more tokens
Nah.
This from this thread alone, you know as well as I, the others usually are a lot worse.
As to my point: Nothing matters.
Still shouldn’t blow off any concerns people raise about the trend.
I agree it is ego getting hurt, I agree it is egoism and lack of empathy that is core of those statements.
Sure, don’t add them to the trading post but bring them back in their original way of obtaining.
I’m sure you’ll love that so much more…
The issue you have is not having a unique item anymore that’s unobtainable not that it’s easier to get.
All of the figths are harder than they were in legion cuz u could out gear it with 2 raid tiers legendarys bis artifact weapons you cannot do that with the current version sure you can use TW gear but i would still say its way more challenging now than it was back in legion (obiviously when it just got out in legion it was hard as hell for most players)
No. That’s such a sad mentality to have. They’re a testament that you played during that time. Some got it legitimately (like me) or others bought it. Besides, buying a carry for KSM or AoTC mount isn’t only available by buying wow tokens. I’ve accumulated enough gold to buy 1 or 2 AoTC mount if I want. But if you buy a carry for a mount, you are just very, very lazy. Why pay monthly for a game to just use shortcuts and then complain.
I believe the worst kind of mounts/pets they can add are store mounts. Directly bought. No 2-3 steps like TCG or RaFs.
I really dont care if they bring back old unobtainable mounts. I had the Spectral gryphon/wind rider since it was first introduced and only ever used it on a Dwarf shaman. It is great that more players are able to obtain these mounts now. Same goes for other more “exlusive” mounts like the brutosaur, why even remove it from the vendor in the first place?
As for the Zhevra mount I never had it and I will never waste my tender on those 2 pixels either. I would however love if they could add the updated version of a zebra mount. It already exists in the files and uses the updated horse model from BfA. Simply slap a saddle on it and shove it into the trading post. Or even better, leave it without a saddle for a more wild/natural look.

I had the Cindercharger (name?) from earlier (WoD or so?). I recruited myself to get it as I thought the mount looked really cool and at the time, it was the only way to obtain it.
When it was reintroduced as a trading post item, I saved tenders that month by already having it. I went through all the hoops at the time because I wanted the mount. I still think it looks cool and I am happy that people that weren’t around / never got to obtain it themselves had a new opportunity to do so.
And, it’s not like it’s a gladiator-mount either. It literally cost money (either mine, or a friends) to obtain, so in that sense, it’s just a shop-mount that was made available at the ingame Trading Post.
Zehvra is the same thing.
For me, they are a reminder of all the good times I had progressing them steadily with my guild. Gear is fine, achievements are cool, but the AOTC mount is a physical manifestation of the memories I have with all those people, going back to Antorus in Legion.
Agreed. I just don’t have any interest in old mounts that haven’t aged well at all.
I’m happy for those who like it. I’m saving my tender.
I honestly think there’s so many mounts in the game now
Who cares anymore ?
The prestige of owning a mount has long dissapeared.
Mounts don’t carry any weight or meaning anymore.
I remember seeing a guy with both ashes of Alar and the mimiron head in Wrath back in the day. That was a ooo aaah he/she must be amazing at the game.
in 2023 look he’s got ashes and mimirons head … yeah nobody cares.
I’ve got 621 mounts , farmed many of them for years. I litterally wouldn’t care if they put invincible reins on trade post anymore.
When there was only 100 mounts in the game , it meant something to get all 100 + achieve
The only mounts worth a damn are gladiator and cutting edge mounts ( both can be bought with gold sadly)
Lets be real here though.
If you care about wanting the items to remain unique, its about protecting your own ego and feeling special.
Its a two way street here.
To me, removing exclusivity isnt about if items are rare or not, its about giving people the freedom to create their character exactly how they want them.
If someone wants to RP that their character is from a certain background or has certain interests and finds a mog/mount that fits it perfectly… i think its a right shame that they arent able to.
I own items that are/were unique and no longer obtainable. Theyre just gathering dust in my collection.
I think if someone wants to use those items, they should be able to. Someone else having something i do does not diminish my time in game, or what i have achieved in it.
‘‘Cutting edge mounts’’ can easily be farmed after the tier, atm there isnt even a mount for cutting edge. (mentioning this because i keep seeing people talk about it)
KSM has fomo mounts though.
There’s a cutting edge mount next patch , the owl
We all feel different about these things.
How you feel about it, is not the same as the OP felt about it, nor how others feel about it. For some, it is worth nothing. That is also my mantra, nothing matters - never have and never will.
Yet, I can also empathise with those who do feel an actual loss of something that was part of their self experience. Their history. Sure, you can brush away ego as being something bad. Yet, ego is also your feeling of selfworth. Hurting, chipping or taking away from it will for some not matter, for others it can lead down a dark path.
I would be glad if you and others keep that situation in mind. I just rather play it safe. As the argument that it doesn’t matter, should hold more true for all those who never had the thing to begin with. Their wish to receive the unique item, is pure egoism (I want it, because why shouldn’t I, I want it?" while the defending side is protecting ego “I got it when it was limited and I worked for it, I want to keep it special, because that uniqueness is what gives it special value. Taking that away makes it worthless. I don’t want that to happen.”
One is getting something taken away, and the other takes.
One side is the few, and the other is the many.
One is more vulnerable.
It is all fun to mock, or minimise, to say things like ‘get over it, it is happening’. Then it happens to something of worth to your ego, then it is no longer fun, you are mocked and minimised. You are told to get over it.
Empathise with your fellow man and their loss. Is that harm really worth yours and others gain? That is up to you.
But theyre not actually getting anything taken away. The mount is still there in their collection.
Any achievements they have related to it are still on their account.
All theyre losing is the ability to feel superior to those without.
And personally im not a fan of when people feel happy because others have less than them. Seems a rather mean spirited mindset to have.
The concept of value of something being rare is hard to grasp. Yet it is the thing of value that disappears in this situation. There was value, now there is none. That is taking away something.
The value is in its rarity, not utility.
Once rarity has been stripped away, it is left feeling worthless. It is felt as normalised, lessened, deglossed. It truly are only the pixels itself. That the emotional investment you put in has now turned into rot and dust right before your eyes.
If you dont understand how something can have emotional value outside the actual use of the physical (or digital) object itself - I do understand how you cant empathise to what is lost.
Nothing wrong for feeling superior when acheiving something other people cannot. It’s the basis for competitive sport, after all. Are you saying gold medal winners shouldn’t care if the Olympics started rewarding everyone with gold medals just for turning up?
Theyve not stopped giving out medals as far as im aware so its not an equal comparison.
You can also buy yourself a medal at any time. Its just you would place a different value on that.
Plus people wouldnt lose their achievements in their log. They would still have their badge saying they did something. Anyone who came later would not.
So personally i dont think its the same thing.
Limited time rewards that don’t require skill to obtain are kind of lame. I’m glad Blizzard is taking steps to make these mounts obtainable again, in a way that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
One got the zebra from RAF though. I was a giga loser back when I got it. Far from an olympic competitor.
