At a guess I would say the old models don’t work with the new spell animations etc. But that is purely a guess.

like i want the old animation and character model options if u want it on or off

Aha the whole shebang.

I know a few were disappointed when the toggle vanished.

I can understand why you want it and ideally you would have this choice, but unfortunately, it would mean more data and I don’t think many people would support additional download for something they don’t think is necessary for their own enjoyment of the game.

on the other hand, I don’t see why some things couldn’t be changed via some kind of mod DLC through blizzard store?

although thinking about it now… if one player had different models from me, then my character would not be represented to that player the way I have set her up, the mogs etc. and I don’t really like that too much…
It’s a tough one.

A masterful understatement.

New nightelf female animations and posture sucked and still suck so badly that after a change I was thinking if I want to play this game anymore.

BRING BACK A CHOICE TO ENJOY THIS GAME. :innocent:

There has been a lot of post regarding this the past years, high demand- but ignored

Updated Night Elf female models have 1 good thing, their ears move but body-wise old one was better.

Their ears are bending when they cry and while dancing the ears are wavering now. Only bad thing is their bra nerf, they probably tried to make Night Elf more masculine female with that update but it was a mistake, it is not we want :smile_cat:

At some point the game simply had to evolve, and it has.

Old character models can still be enjoyed in Classic. They slowly phased them out over time which was already lenient enough. It was around the time of Demon Hunters being introduced that they gradually stopped the toggles.

It took me a while to find a good example, but you are right, the animations are not the same feel as the originals. some of the emotes are nearly identical, but there are little flourishes that fit the character of the nelf race. such as in this video, the nelf female idle animation originally had them waving their hand as if they were standing in water. it was graceful and magical. that is gone.
I would certainly welcome an option to have those kinds of animations on my current character. it would fit her personality better.

Why do they need to be?
I never get that. How conservative ARE people?!

Anyway… It won’t happen. If they did they would give themselves SO much extra work it’s just not worth it.
Every new piece of content, every piece of gear, every new activity… All of it would have to work with BOTH versions of the models and their animations. It’s just an insane amount of extra work.

Think Blizzard said they won’t do that due to how it’d clash with their game design in current WoW.

I much prefer the old models, the animations are way less cartoony in my opinion, most of the races look strait up ridiculous when attacking or casting, was super sad when they took out the option to switch to the old ones in Legion.

clearly they don’t NEED to be. it would just be nice.
obviously most of us have got by just fine, and I hadn’t even noticed the subtle differences until i compared them side by side.
for some people though, it’s things like this that matter. we all value different aspects of our game.
something you may care about a great deal may not be important to somebody else.

btw, animations don’t effect armour and weapons. they are all skinned already and any differences applied to the animation of the bone system will automatically apply to the things attached to that bone system.

Not completely true. Excessive clipping and such might occur due to differences in stances, swings and such.

You are correct of course.
However…
Since the differences are subtle, that would be unlikely. they could give them a cursory look just to be sure… but hey it’s not as if they check all that with the current animations anyway. there is a lot of clipping on what we currently have.
Wow never really cared too much about that.

You can switch between new and old character models in Bnet from the drop menu - WoW Retail , WoW Classic.

they removed the option once demonhunters became a thing. guess why

Oh, i purely miss them. If they announce their return in shadowlands, i would definitely buy it right away just because of it. I wouldn’t care less if the old animations would use only one attack style, e.g the 2h heroic strike animation from classic(which was hot af), it’s still much more cooler than all the other new animations they’ve added, in my opinion. I really wish they’d return, as alternative on/off toggle of course, so everyone could choose the perfect models for themselfs, and both sides would be happy.
