Switching professions

Since forever really I am stuck to enchanting as primary profession. Switching means I lose recipes that cannot be obtained anymore.

Now a few years back I read something that the game now saves your recipe list and if you return to a profession later you still have your learned recipes.

This is good but I do remember back then this only worked from a certain expansion forward. Has this been fixed meanwhile? Can I safely switch profession without losing old world recipes?

I’m pretty sure this hasn’t been retrofitted to older expansions and is only for the last couple. i wouldn’t risk changing proffs just yet!

Dalbozz is correct. While there are Forgotten Techniques of Zandalar and Kul Tiras like this one, they only apply to the Battle for Azeroth gathering professions. For Legion you may find a few more (not limited to gathering) yet neither of them will restore the recipes from the previous expansions.

However if you made a mistake dropping profession and report soon after, Customer Support may be able to recover it for you in some cases. Keep in mind it is not granted, so try it only as an emergency in case of an honest mistake.
