Some new datamined text reveals how/why Sylvanas comes into possesion of Xal’atath and what her plans are.
Xal’atath… a fascinating weapon. I have heard tales of its exploits.
A pity it now lies dormant. But anything that slumbers can be awakened.
This blade is more than a mere dagger. It is a torch that shall light our path forward.
Soon I will call upon you again, champion. And together, we will steer the Horde toward its destiny.
The Alliance believes that by striking down Rastakhan and decimating the Zandalari fleet, they have broken us. That the Horde will soon crumble.
Fools. The boy-king has lied to himself and his people. He hasn’t the faintest inkling of what he’s truly up against.
War is a living thing. It writhes, it grows, twisting and turning until its final form is revealed.
This war is about to shift yet again. And it will be this blade that guides our way to victory.
Her plan to rescue the Horde from certain defeat is literally “I have this magical knife that no longer has magical power, I can only assume there is a way to return its power, but I do not know how. I have never used it, nor do I know the extent of its power, and considering its history, it is more likely to kill me than anyone else and free N’zoth while at it. Let us just hope for a miracle! Trust me! All my other plans have worked out so well!”
I love how Sylvanas, who started this war so confidently on the pretense of “killing hope”, has failed so spectacularily at fighting out the war that she is now entirely reliant on hoping for a miracle to save her.
How do you think this will go? Well, we can already tell where this ends, but how do you think she ends up freeing N’zoth?

N’zoth vs Yogg’saron and Y’shaarj, I am still calling it.
And could save the story for me if this was the case xd.

Inb4 predictable reveal that N’Zoth was the dark force that had been manipulating Sylvanas’ actions all along. And that Xal’atath is revealed to be a little shard of N’Zoth all along.

Ugh, i can already see it…
Sylvanas will deal a great defeat to the Alliance using Knaifu Ex Machina.
Oh No, please… Then again, the Alliance is not allowed to have nice things, so I am afraid that our days as the winning side are numbered. It appears that our dominant position in the world war will be short-lived.
The Alliance believes that by striking down Rastakhan and decimating the Zandalari fleet, they have broken us.
Literally, the only reason why we don’t annihilate the Zandalari after the siege is because Jaina feels bad about exterminating a mourning people. Anduin could very well press the advantage and win the war now instead of waiting for weeks, but he doesn’t want to because he is Golden Child.
Fools. The boy-king has lied to himself and his people. He hasn’t the faintest inkling of what he’s truly up against.
Given how Sylvanas’ original plans for world domination backfired so hard that the Horde is on the verge of collapse, it is her who didn’t quite understand who she was up against.

There is info that N’Zoth will free Xal’atath. So dagger it self will not give any powers. But that in 8.1.5.
While on 8.2. poster Sylvanas holds this dagger. So probably Sylvanas plans to imprison some other powerfull being by this dagger.
Maybe Ashara or Elune?
As the Kul Tiran fleet descends upon the shores of Durotar, Sylvanas raises Xal’athath into the air and chants:
“Skidaddle skidoodle, your fleet is screwed-el!”
And then a maelstrom appears and swallows the entire fleet.

She basically did the same thing at Lordaeron when she raised an entire army of skeletons using her exceptional necromantic powers that oddly we had never seen before.

Sylvanas continues her legacy of failure, if they pull a ‘‘Kerrigan’’ I will vomit, also Nzoth has a lot of trash to say in 8.1.5 about Tyrande and Sylvanas( speculation based on his voice lines) it seems he is warning Sylvanas about Elune/Tyrande being destroyers that will bring ruin to all…can’t wait for Sylvanas to be a puppet or just die already.

From spoilers it looks like the Horde canonically killed G’huun and maybe Sylvanas’ plan is to reawaken N’zoth to battle the Alliance, so she can wore off her enemies.
If she imprisons Elune I will riot. She better not get her filthy, dead hands on my godess!

What if she imprisons Bolvar in Xal’atath?
Can’t deny that shooting down the moon, with demolishers would be an impressive visual

Your eyes!!! I better call the Winchesters!!!
on topic tho… Imprisoning Elune would be ridiculous. Elune should NOT be brought into WOW as a character. Best to keep her abstract or as a notion, else Blizz will end up doing to her whats been to done to the dragon aspects…

Worst thing is I can see Blizzard try and pulling it off… ._.
This. They already released to much information about Elune as it is. If it was up to me, I would never have jad so much information about the Wild-Gods, Dragon(-Aspects), Loa’s and Elune readily available. Mysteries are a good thing, ya know? It keeps things interesting!

Go ahead, call them! All the salt in the world won’t cleanse me!
But yeah, I agree. Elune should be kept as this mysterious entity, rather than a physical character in WoW.

Great, now I want Supernaturalesque characters in wow hunting everything paranormal. Maybe like Ghostfacers, they will pour holy water on all night elves with black eyes.

It’ll work for a time, then it’ll make a big mess and we’ll have to deal with it.
That could actually be a fun concept for a villain group.
