Just wanted to ask if my desktop would run shadowlands ok smoothly even.

Yes! On top of that the engine itself is VERY scalable so more or less anyone CAN get it to run well by turning down graphical options. Assuming you mean 16gb of RAM and not 16gb of SSD storage.
Im currently playing on i7, 8gb ram, Geforce 950 GTX and an ancient HDD with settings pretty high up.
