So to start this is where I can coming from, doing old dungeons with some music on and grinding some G is how I LIKE to get money. I do professions and utilize the AH sometimes for a bit of G boost but again MY FAVOURITE way to get some G is to grind older dungeons. I am not a “booster” I do not farm dungeons for days on ends, I just like to make a bit of money when I need it for Winter Flying, Artisan Flying etc, when I feel like chilling. I have already figured out to bypass the stupid thing anyway, but its just needlessly slower/tedious…
So that being said just PLEEEEASE get rid of the stupid immersion break that is the anti-boost. Wtf even is the point of it ? To stop boosters ? People are still doing that in LFG.
To stop gold grinders ? Bots are LITERALLY every where money can be made, and that’s made even worse by the weird + stupid decision to let new accounts make DK’s.
So again remove the stupid “anti-boost” from old content, that can easily be avoided by playing smart/slow, and just let people who want to grind G to some music for fun.
Why are you so afraid of casual people making easy G for their 4th Alt to have Winter Flying?
The point of it is to try to get people actually playing the game as it was intended to be played, rather than running AFK behind a Mage who runs through the same dungeon umpteen times, AOEing everything in sight until the booster is levelled.
The fact that you were profiting from this has doubtless made you unhappy with the situation but the situation in Classic Era was getting out of hand, and encouraged gold buying, which is the most likely reason for the change.
I think you have mistaken me, I do not/have not boost nor been boosted (not counting friends running me through for dungeon q’s). I run old dungeons literally solo just to kill stuff and get money. Its a braindead way to make money but I found it nice to chill with music to.
Also Boosting is still very much a thing in WoTLK CLassic.
As for Gold Selling sites I have mentioned in my post the countless number of Bot DK’s in the game.
Boosting is when you run others through a dungeon so they gain a chunk of XP without having to put any effort into clearing the dungeon.
What you’re doing is simply soloing dungeons, so I honestly don’t get how the anti-boost mechanic affects you in any way, you can still solo dungeons, surely? Or am I missing something?
So the “Anti-Boost” mechanics are a set of extra mechanics stopping people from going fast. One of the most painful ones is a stun lock that cannot be negated in any way and you will die once it starts, a death by a thousand cuts as it were. For Frost Mages the mobs will become immune to slows.
If you run an old dungeon solo with a good class for it, Prot Pala/Frost Mage for example, you cannot pull more than a few packs at a time because after a certain amount of time they gain the Mechanics, and you die. My lvl 80 Blood Dk 3.6K GS even died in Zulfarak due to this. There is nothing you can do.
This means that you cannot pull an amount of packs that would make it time/effort efficient, making solo dungeon grinding less productive compared to pulling how much your character should be able to handle and AoE them all to death.
To circumvent the Mechanics you just have to go slower, basically wasting time.
Ah I understand now. I didn’t know that either. I’ve been running Gnomeregan, SM, and Uldaman on my L80 for Loremaster achievement, but to be honest I tend to take it slow, mostly just killing the mobs as I see them, rather than trying to round up loads of them and AOEing them down.
If you’re hoping to make a profit from the drops I can see how not being able to go fast would be a major annoyance.
This could sound crazy, but maybe he is doing it because it is fun for him. listening to music and chilling while playing. You know, because we are talking about game (hobby). Not about work or chores.
I believe he means the other aspects of “Anti-boosting” in fact he seems to have more against mechanics that don’t allow for swift runs which trigger should you pull too many mobs, them getting ability to basically stun lock you, ignore invulnerability or CC, that sort of things.
Anti boosting mechanics aka the slow immune, random stuns and what not after a specific time are stupid and should never have been implemented.
Same goes for the xp nerf if you’re a couple levels too high.
They’re stupid and once again punish innocent regular players more than actual rulebreakers, like many of their idiotic changes. My opinion of course.
If you just play the dungeon normally, killing the mobs just a few at a time it’s no problem at all. It’s a problem for people who wish to speed run through the dungeon rounding up scores of mobs at a time and AOEing them down.
I think its best not to get bogged down by starting a “what is normal gameplay” sub discussion in here, when honestly it just all comes down to the character you have.
While it is “speed running” it is literally just a consequence of character progression that allows dungeon farming, not a skill based thing.
That being said yes if you play a class that can walk up to a pack and insta nuke then that would be classed as speed running with that class, which you might argue then that is just “normal” gameplay, but if your a character that pulls lots of mobs and AoE’s them down then spends 2 mins looting them all is that really speed running? Or is that just normal gameplay for that class/spec?
Again that’s why it is best not to bring in the “normal” sub discussion further confusing the subject.
I mean Blizz made the amazing idea to give every new account a free 55lvl boost (DK) without having to level to 55 yourself, like the old days, so technically if you joined WoTLK now you can skip all the previous content which is definitely not how WoTLK was intended to be played.
As for paying for a boost, yeah that’s just not fun at all in my eyes, to do it or get it done for me.
