Talent build viable?

Hi! I wanted to ask you guys something about ele build with Echo of elements, Master of elements and Surge of power (the current one I have).

I´ve tried primal elementalist with storm elemental (hated the “pet” system and long cooldown) and also Icefury instead of Surge of power. Icefury build I found confusing with too many damaging spells and procs, and could not get hold of it. Maybe I need more practice with it.

With Surge of power I find the build smooth and easier to play and really enjoy it. I´m in no way mythic raid player, I usually only play m+ dungs and do old achievements etc.

What do you think of this build? Is it inferior to others? Am I crazy for going with it?

I find Surge tricky to begin with, and adding Master of The Elements to the equation makes it very difficult to pull off right imo. Knowing when to use Lava burst or other options of Surge is tricky to begin with, and on top of that you add MoTE meaning you want to cast Lava burst before your Earthshock for MoTE and then have another Lava burst ready for the Fire/Storm elemental CD reduction. My brain could not keep up with a build like that

Personally I like Icefury. I use it after Stormkeeper and/or Earthshocks. It does a lot of damage and gives a lot of mobility aswell as some added maelstrom. It should be much easier than your build, but we are all different

Edit: I would assume the build is viable but you may have better results with something else. In the end though its all about having fun so play what you like.

Those Stormkeeper lightning bolts with Surge and trinkets are usually very brutal, love those numbers popping up

am one of those people who haven’t found a place for icefury in my build. I have switched to echo + master of the elements but just can’t seem to enjoy icefury. It creates somewhat a bloated rotation for me. I seem to do very well with Primal Elementalist usually because it runs a lot smoother. So I am thinking maybe i am gaining some dps from not messing up the rotation all the time as I try and optimize icefury usage

I got igneous potential earlier this week and although I’m happy with the storm elemental build I’m finding the playstyle of the igneous lavabursts build tonnes of fun. Though I get what you mean with ice fury, even if you find a time to use it, proccing lava bursts, earth shocks and keeping up flame shock will always take precedent and some times the increased damage frost shocks just end up not being used.

I tend to use it whenever we’re coming up to a phase when we’re going to have to move like moving between rooms on Opulence or trying to still damage as Rastakhan uses inevitable end.

I suppose surge of power is an option if you don’t want to use it and a lightning bolt with extra overloads can easily fill the hole which is left by ice fury when your lava bursts are on cooldown and you have nothing to flame shock. I bet if you manage to get echo of the elementals as well as igneous potential, using earth shocks into lava bursts could potentially give you a higher fire elemental, and thus a higher ember elemental uptime.
