Tank Druid vs Tank Warrior. Is there big differences?

Hi all,

Currently I have a Feral Druid at level 61. It has me quite frustrated since in the dungeons I am having a hard time being able to maintain the threat in the pulls that are more than 1 mob.

This is making me wonder whether to switch to a warrior since I understand that they are better tanks.

I would like to ask the experts:

  • A feral tank druid is viable for raid content and such?
  • IS it true that a tank warrior is better than a druid? Is the difference very big?

Many thanks

Tank druids are just straight up better then warriors except they can’t tank Illidan due to a mechanic.

The only thing warriors has better then druid is tank cds.

Tank druid is better in both mitigation and threat in BT/MH gear.

It really comes down to what do you expect to do on your tank? Endgame raiding? Normal/Heroic dungeons?

Highly dissagree with you sir ,

MT all of TBC 2006-2009 and never had an issue with threat nor could druids produce the same threat (terenas/lightbringer servers)

Druids are soakers and with that i mean they have high HP pool and High Dodge and are excellent for offtanks on mechanics like Gruul´s hurtful strike etc where you cant mitigate the hit

Warriors where the best tank thruout vanilla - cataclysm (as far as i played in expansions that is and only made periodic returns in later ones) , mitigation and the ability to achive Unhittable stats far easier than other tank classes and with hit+expertise cap you could literally go afk during bossfights without risking being overaggroed !

The biggest drawback if your not aware of it is the fact that you have to be alert as a warrior and tab - devastate if aoe tanking and your dps needs to be on the ball… ergo wait threat but since threat is literally removed from current retail and has been for a while they dont comprehend that

The fact you’re implying that warriors were the best tanks in WotLK is kinda hilarious

a major factor is just their party buffs alone. u wanna stack warrior dps to begin with in physical grps, which means a warrior brings nothing in that regard and feralaura+druid output is way better. threatwise feral is straight up better.

You also take a 2nd prot pala over a warrior as both holy pala and ret are pretty bad but the buffs are good

They are really good for raid tanking for sure so yes.

Well warrior tanks have a higher skill celling than druid tanks so if you take highest end players of both specs then you will see some diffrence where probbably the warrior tanks win out but a middle of the road Druid tank will always beat out a middle of the road Warrior tank in the long run in TBC (if they have equaly good gear ofc)

And this comes from a warrior tank main who really likes the play style but is no where close to the best players ofc
