Hi!
I want to tank this season but meta is rly wierd atm realy only DH is playable in higher keys? I would like to play Brew monk but I’m afraid that i wont get inv its my fav tank my secondary tank is Prot pal. should i forget about the monk and play another tank? or monk is not that bad and i can progres with him to?
It depends what keylevels you are aiming for. The top brew is doing +17-19 keys. For most players the meta isn’t interesting to follow since they do not get to the keylevels where it matters.
Hmm i dont aim for the highest keys, im casual player atm but ofc i like to progress
Casual does not mean “wanting to push keys”. Casual means playing ocasionaly.
However. If that is your goal, then you will do fine.
These are the troubles you will find :
(A) you might have to do your own keys.
(B) And to get invited into keys you will have to have your rio in order. Which means timing each dungeon in fort+tyr one level at a time. You cant “skip” levels.
(C) The #1 advantage of DH hunter is its capacity to control mobs on its own. Any other tank cant do that. Be aware of it, and use your kit to the most effective way possible.
What I recommend to ease your frustration is interrupting the most important casts yourself, and hoping DDs to interrupt everything else. And when you reach high keys and it actually matters, I recommend you join a melee comp for this reason.
I dont know what level u’re aiming for but im playing with a brewmaster and its no issue at the keyrange we are doing (working on 11/12’s atm). Biggest problem is ppl see DH is meta and then want to have that in their grp instead, without understanding why its meta and that meta doesnt mean the others are bad.
thanks i will try brewmaster
Don’t fall for the meta. Never fall for the meta. And if you want to try the meta, UNDERSTAND the meta.
That is the biggest advice I can give you. Much/many of the classes can do the necessities. And as you have said you want to be casual, your options are huge. They only really narrow where the meta matters, aka where things aren’t really done for more than just the challenge and the score.
As Uda pointed out, DH has great control. If that is your thing, go for it! But other tanks equally - and in some cases more - have other niches that are incredible when done right. For example, Prot Warr and Spell Reflect rotation and ofc Blood DK self-sufficiency.
Thing is, there will always be a meta. But what is crucial to understand is that the “meta” is not a particular class. Its a particular comp of classes.
Currently, the meta is DH, mage, SP, aug, Rdruid.
DF dungeons have a ton of interrupts to be done. And bosses hit really hard.
So you got 2 dds with the longest CC available, plus RDruid, the healer which is second to last in amount of CC available…
That comp only works if DH and Aug take the brunt of the CCing.
Also, all 4 DDs and healers are passively really squishy. Their survival depends entirely 100% on proper deff CD rotation.
All in all, what this means is that the “meta” comp this season is a comp that depends on coordination on discord to perform. If you just simply smooch those classes together on a PuG environment you will have a bad time.
This season its better to play melee comp and RShaman for pugs. Its not as performing, but you dont depend as much on coordination on discord to reach 1 or 2 key levels less than what the pros are doing.
