I’m writing to ask if there is a good way to target raid members with keybinds, like marco or addon? I know there is an option in game that allows you to bind keys to select party members, I need something like this for raid members. I was trying “/target raidN” marcos, but there is one problem with this command: When player joins raid, it gets RaidIndex and it stays until player leaves raid. It really messes things up when raid leader is changing groups, f.e. when someone who was in 2nd slot of group 2 (RaidIndex 7) was moved into 5th slot of group 3 she/he still have RaidIndex 7, even though in theory it should be 15. I was searching for addon which will be able to do it, but I didn’t find anything.
I know that most ppl are using mouseover macros, but I can’t make myself feel confident with them
Unfortunately this seems like something that only Blizzard could fix, unless addons could manipulate which raidindex players are (I do not know if that is possible, nor do I know the extent of what addons can really do). Someone more knowledgeable than me is going to have to answer that one specifically, but in case it is possible, I don’t know if there are addons that do that either.
And as for not using mouseovers, I don’t think it’s the best idea ever. Wouldn’t you technically need at least 20 (if you do mythic) different keybinds to accomplish this? On top of that, you’d have to first pick out which number they are, then your brain needs to register what button to press, and then you can start casting your spell. Speed is quite important when it comes to healing, and this process will significantly slow you down from just mouseovers, even if you manage to master it. Well, you can do what you want, but that’s just my advice.
Speed is a reason why I’m looking for a way to do it, it’s a lot faster for me to click f.e. F2 - 1 - F4 - 3 - Shift+F2 - 1, instead of moving my mouse over players in raid frames, cause I’m using additional buttons on my mouse as Shift, Ctrl and Shift+Ctrl, so with buttons F1-F5 I have easy way to target whole 20 raid members. Also moving mouse over players in raid frames is not allowing me to use it to turn myself and move away from danger as fast as I’d like to
Is this really worth it, it could be ok if your quickly targeting tanks or something but that player halfway through group 4, are you really going to be able to press the right combo without stopping to think about it?
Just keybind strafe right and left to quickly get out of trouble. Raid healing isn’t many buttons. With clique or Vuhdo you can assign right and left click too.
