So why are the tauren and the centaur just… ok with each other now? When the tauren and centaur were first introducedin Warcraft III, they were presented as direct enemies. Now they’re just chill, hanging out with one another, happy to share quests?
Is there a lore reason for this change, or just a ret-con?

There is a Highmountain Tauren in one of the centaur hubs who says that he doesn’t understand why the Thunderbluff Taurens are very cautious with the centaurs.

Where did these dragon isles centaurs come from tho. All the other centaur come from a keeper of the grave shagging an earth elemental. All of those centaurs from over there around the mauradon are very barbaric and every quest described them as monstrous.
I cant really imagine centaurs going there by boat. So what earth elemental and keeper of the grove had some fun together on the dragon isles

Like other people have said: The DF centaur are an entirely different tribe.
The Tauren and Barrens centaur were in long-standing conflict (Probably over land and/or hunting grounds), it’s quite likely that the DF centaur never even saw a Tauren before we arrived on the Dragon isles.

The Maruuk have existed on the Dragon Isles since before the War of the Ancients. The Wild God Ohn’ahra long ago guided them to the Ohn’ahran Plains, where they came to live in peace with the green dragonflight.[1] Clans rose and fell over the years, but they maintained relative peace among themselves and the dragons.
I guess they are a different branch of Centaurs seeing that the variant in Kalimdor are much younger.
