Tauren Heritage armor quest is sadly too long for me

I basically got burned out and quit top level gameplay ever since Suramar/order hall/class mount/flying in Legion. I recently renewed my sub to wow after i saw a bunch of taurens wearing their new Heritage armor and i love it so much. After 3 days of war campaign, unlocking world quests, raising my thunderbluff reputation and spending money on race change, i have now reached a brick wall with the Heritage armor. I have reached just another reputation grind with honorbound before i can continue with the heritage armor quest line. It makes me feel very tired of WoW when stuff like this is “hard” to get. I feel drained and just tired. I hope wow will have stuff more available without being locked behind things that strategically time gates the content or whatever… I don’t really care particularly about this and i have come to terms that i am maybe just tired of playing wow atm, but a GM told me to write my thoughts here on the forums

Welcome to a mmorpg.

Yes. Very common to do this in MMO’s but i also wish they had done it the same way they did the other heritage armors in the game

Technicly you haven’t even started the heirtage questline. It’s locked behind the campaign. As for why, well, Baine is the focus of the recent war campaign story. Still I don’t see a reason to lock it behind war campaign because the questline itself has very little to do with the current story.

It wasn’t problem for me because I did all the chapters when they were out. Still Honorbound reputation isn’t hard to get. It has the most sources out of 5 starter reps from BfA. You have 3 zones of World Quests, you have incursions, you have warfronts and there’s an emissary once a week.

I feel like it being locked behind the war campaign wasnt really a conscious decision, but something that just happened to be in the next step. I feel they could have made an alternative route for it so it wouldnt get locked behind a 2nd reputation grind for people that are going for it from the get-go, like me.

But surely they have to be aware of the state of it and choose not to change it. My Vision is not Active enough to be able to see their inspiration for locking more and more things behind time gates.

Yeah, I was going to say. The actual heritage questchain is like 8 quests max with a bit of flying around Mulgore.

If only they could find a way to do those 8 quests outsite of advancing the war campaign. I will most likely slowly get it before they even think about changing it. Sigh… :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Personally was disapointed.

Finally my tauren alts could get the totem on their back… but it makes weapons appear and disapear. No, they wont get hidden under its model. The weapon models just disapear and appear. :frowning:

At least its stuck in cloak model which can easily be transmogged, but the heritage set feels incomplete without using it. So…

edit: But yeah… I suggest doing it slowly. Complete one part of it every few days or whenever you got time. Do you need it immediately? No? Then you got time. Lots of it.

Just reached 120 in my tauren horde, also doing the rep, and noticed were still rep gated with the missions. If 9.0 is like this than itks the end of my wow journey.

Hinklink, I feel you. I truely do.

This is my tauren. I thought oo i do the story line real quick, but forgot it was rep gated, so sad. I cannot see new players getting invested in this game like at all.

Yes! I completely agree!. I don’t mind working for it, but there are limits to what people will invest their time in.

Weapons disappear probably because they would clip with the totem. So they made totem override weapon sheathes to be invisible.

Still I don’t use full heritage on any of my characters. For Tauren I only use totem, headdress, chest and pants. This makes him feel much more tribal as a warrior.

storylines should NOT be gated behind ANYTHING other than the earlier part of the story. all this rep, dungeon, achievement, etc requirements for story commencement is very silly and breaks the story up too much.

i’ve not started tauren heritage yet (or gnome) as i just feel the game is lacking currently and haven’t had the heart to do much with current content.

that being said, many times i have forgot actually doing parts of the story because they get gated so far apart sometimes or you have to do it multiple times on various alts. example being, i dont recall proudmore being tortured and baine watching and not being happy with it. but i’ve done the quest. so, basically that storyline has been wasted because i dont recall doing it.

not like various aspects of the BfA storyline are not extreme stretches of believe-ability anyway.

a barely tenable story in parts is being made worse by stretching it out so far people just forgot it happened, or more and more, the storyline is occurring in another medium. eg novels.

Yeah.
Not only its hidden behind rep. But doing the Nazjatar main quest was annoying because it took 2-3 days to get the Rank 3 for your bodyguard BEFORE you can unlock the quest chain to get the quest to save Baine. (for some reason)

All this effort, in my opinion, was pointless. The heritage quest story sounded just fine working without doing any of the BFA main story anyway, so why lock it?

oh no, wait wait a second… … …

does this mean i have to do the questline in nazjatar (at least up to a point) on my TAUREN toon (and probably my gnome too?) and that it doesn’t count that ive already done the whole war campaign on my main? (me).

if so this is even worse than i thought! i’ve not bothered with war campaign on ANY alt beyond unlocking the research quest so that you can increase doubloons found on IE’s, cause i’ve already done it on my main!

(though come to think of it, my gnome should be quite far along on it because its my main for alliance, but thats beside the point.)

it shouldn’t be necessary to do the war campaign on EACH race that will get a heritage set in the future.

if im reading this right, then i agree with the OP more strongly than i originally did. TERRIBLE decision (again!!!)

I feel ya about rep grinding, but in honesty, the Honorbound isn’t that bad. There’s plenty of avenues to gain rep with them, and the quest line gives you a hefty amount also.
Remember to always check the mission table - they seem to pop up there as rewards a lot.
But yeah, they really need to find a new way of unlocking achievements, because rep grinding is just a lazy way about it.
