This is relatively new, right? (I mean in Blizzard dev time.) When were those options added?
And when we have these now, as if everybody has been begging for being able to play another lore-clashing joke of a race-class combo, why still no Vulpera druids??
I find that cool tbh, unforch racial are still too strong in pvp so you are forced to play human/orc if you wanna push high.
I guess most people are happy to be able to play almost whatever race with whatever class.
Itâs part of Blizzard race/class unlock for all combinations who hit Live servers last patch day this week.
Current Rollout are Priest/Rogues and Mages for all races.
Future classes will come once implemented.
I still wait for Night Elf shamans. Got all transmog set up since few exp already.
Shamans gets transmog??
There really isnât any âLore-Clashingâ Race/Class Combos. At this point in the history of the game world, thereâs been so much cultural exchange, that pretty much any Combo is totally feasible. Demon Hunters, much like Death Knights, are likely recruiting new people, just as the Cenarion Circle Druids, and Earthen Ring Shamans are likely to do. For most Classes, you donât really have to come up with much explanation at this point. The game has had Draenei Rogues for a long time, just not playable, and Mr. Smite has been one of the better known Tauren Rogues in the game since Vanilla. There just is very little reason to restrict these things in the contemporary game.
The few exceptions could be Undead Paladin and Lightforged Draenei Warlock. The former has precedent in how Undead can already wield the Light as Priests, and for the latter, I guess it would be handwaved away by saying the Lightforged individual decided to seek out a path less traveled by their kin.
As for why no Vulpera Druids? Itâs a matter of having to create Art Assets. Druids have their special Forms, and require new art for that, Shaman have their Totems. Blizz has already stated, that during Dragonflight, they aim to have all Race/Class Combos available, with the only exception being Drakthyr Evokers, which are an outlier and special case at this point.
I would say at some point it becomes unnecessary because there is abundant choice. But this could be an expression of Blizzard having stress with subs and wanting to maximize appeal, in case someone just cannot tolerate not having their imagined race-class.
choice is always good though some of us are waiting for blood elf druid or maybe shaman or both so we can complete our âsetâ
The core idea of a rogue is to be a rogue - walk your own path, and with that in mind, it is possible for everyone to become a rogue. Same goes for a few other classes, some classes still require some work to get there, but eventually a world where anyone can become anything should be the option - as that is the most realistic scenario, as is in real life too.
What differentiates lightforged draenei then, though? Seems the joke lines become canon: Look, some fancy tattoes and a hologram. Neat. Now back to serving the dark arts of guile, stealth and deception.
Kinda cynical how easily their core identity can fade.
The draenei most committed to their long crusade (against the Burning Legion) would undergo a ritual to become Lightforged, infusing their bodies with the very essence of the Holy Light.
Then again, by making class specs switchable almost on the fly, we got the weird situation of priests who can go both angelic and evil-dark at will. I guess one just has to not expect much consistency in WoW.
Yeah, Shamans and all other classes - since WotLK
The problem is that you view the race as a whole, when it is not. Everyone is an individual who can choose their own path of life even after previously choosing something else. Being an individual is really the key
