Taxing on Account Bound Primal Chaos

Why aren’t things with Blizzard more simple and straightforward?

When they finally realize that account bound Primal Chaos is the way to go (excess amounts on Mains and Alts mostly starving on it), instead of just making the item fully account bound they go back to… a satchel, with a 25% taxing cost on it.

This not only makes the whole process of sending the material to Alts into an awkward and convoluted experience, but also cuts down on 1/4 of the quantity we transfer, which btw, was already earned by playing the game.

It almost seems like Devs had to give in to the community, begrudgingly add this and consequently put in an obnoxious penalty, just to make things artificially harder.

Its always been like this tho.
Id assume its something about making it worthwhile to farm mats on alts and not just always your main character to transfer.

Could always just collect them on each individual alt.

No need to pay the tax then is there?

Because they love clutching on every anti QoL feature like Gollum and his Precious.

They cant have the game being too fun or people might feel fulfilled and go do something else with their day

From Blizzard’s point of view it would be best if you did the same grind on all of your alts. Providing things like this they give you alternatives to that while also incentivize you to actually play on your alts. I think it’s a fair deal tbh.

I think the word that fits best is “compromise”

Yep, exactly.

I think being taxed in a game where you’ve already put in the work, and it is work, is absolutely absurd.

Punishing players for doing work in a 15 euro a month game—it just boggles the mind.

It is not something new in WoW.
The AH had been taxing us since it inception

If you look at it as work

Then you’re doibg something wrong.

Actually its a double edge sword - they leave anyway.

I am grateful for the Devs listening and improving on the game, however this Primal Chaos update was a very obvious and necessary QoL change.

I never said anything about this being new to the game. I’ve been around WoW for quite a while now, so I know. But change can be good, as seen with DF.
However, just because you slipped once on a banana peel, it doesn’t mean you should keep getting up and deliberately throwing yourself on top of it, slipping over and over again.

I just find the whole taxing “compromise” too arbitrary and unnecessary.
After all, even if somewhat impactful, this is not the currency whose entire economy the game is based on, like gold is.

You still have to play the game to earn Primal Chaos, so why should it matter which character you choose to farm it with? You also need to earn Concentrated / Primal Focus in your Alts anyway, if you ever want the best crafted gear.

Personally, grinding materials like this with my Alts is most definitely NOT “incentivizing” me to play more with them. More likely than not, I am way less interested in crafted gear and consumables based in Primal Chaos, as was the case until now.

The way I see it, taxing the transfer has absolutely no positive impact in anyone’s experience. It’s just there to be there. It’s yet another artificial blockage, an annoyance with no purpose.

I could live with the tax (even it feels big) but my biggest issue with this is the amount of primal chaos in the package. Crafted armor pieces are 30, 40 or 50 chaos, one hand weapons are 80 and 2handers are 160. If i want to send my alt primal chaos for one hand weapon, i would have to buy 2 packs, alt would get 120 chaos and there would be 40 chaos left hanging on that alt now and not usable on main or other altm unless grinding more chaos on that alt to get 80 to buy packet to send onward (to lose 20 again on tax part). It feels excessive for having to use 160 chaos to get 120 for item that costs 80. On armor you dont have to get several packs but you are still left with left overs on the alt.
I could live with the tax if i would be able to buy amount that is closer to the amount of chaos i actually need. While it is impossible to have it match with every need, selling them for example chunks of 20 at the price of 25 would allow me to buy amount that is closer to my need. It still would leave extras with some items (those that cost 30) but would go even on most of the craftable goods.
