Since Blizzard decided to do some kind of Classic Fresh thing. I thought I might state my opinion about TBC Classic and what kind of changes I would like to see or could be interesting to see if TBC would get “refreshed”.
Dungeons:
Heroic mode for ALL classic dungeons
Heroic mode for classic dungeons would mean 70 level content and updated loot tables. This would mean that you could go for example in Ragefire Chasm or Deadmines with 70 level players and get TBC level 70 equivalent loot from these dungeons in Heroic mode.
Same thing for World Bosses, there is no point in keeping Classic boss content at level 60 in TBC Classic because nobody kills them.
New 5-10 man “PvP” raids and rewards:
In addition to “new” 70 level instances, players can now raid faction bosses. Thrall, Vol’jin, Cairne Bloodhoof, Sylvanas Windrunner, Magni Bronzebeard, Gelbin Mekkatorque, Bolvar Fordragon, and other faction bosses can now be raided for loot and PvP rewards.
Basically these would be PvE instances but with PvP oriented loot. In addition to traditional drops, the bosses would drop tokens that could be exchanged for items at a quatermaster. The key idea behind the tokens is that there would be pool of items and the player could only select 3 out 12. For example, Magni Bronzebeard’s Beard could be exchanged for one item only once. Perhaps the loot table for Magni’s beard would be from Ironforge.
An example encounter could be Undercity throne room with Sylvanas and Varimathas. The encounter would not necessarily have to take place in Undercity.
Racial changes:
I will not go into greater details here but I would like to see some changes to the racials. For example there should not be useless racials like Troll regeneration or racials that provide too much advantage like human Perception.
For example: (rough sketch)
Human Perception: +5 passive stealth detection, active: +15 for 15 seconds
Troll Regeneration: Health regeneration rate increased by percentage of health missing, total of 100% at 10% health. (also in combat as the effect is very small)
Troll Berserking: Increase casting and attack speed by 10 to 30% based on remaining health for 15 seconds. In addition, for the duration you regenerate health at 1x - 3x rate based on health missing.
New recipes:
The new and “new” instances would drop new profession recipes focusing on stuff that has been missing from the game.
Im just gonna say a big NO to this tbh. Not really sure where to begin either.
I get it that you have dreams, but this is proper private server stuff. It’s not that you are trying to balance minor changes, you basically want a new game.
Hc version for all classic dungeons? We talking 20 dungeons (not counting different wings)
I, personally, dont wanna spend another minute in a dungeon from previous expansions. Not when i’ve spent countless hours in each farming for prebis/rep/patterns.
Perception more or less only counters rogues. Its useless against mages or warlocks.
Gnome racial provides advantages against mages.
Undead racial provides advantages against locks/priests.
The list goes on, no need to remove perception just beacause its good against 1 class.
I Feel like i could continue shutting down most of the points made in the thread, i find it hard to believe you think there is even a small chance this will EVER get implemented by blizz. No offense.
You can of course write your own but I doubt people like you do that. You mainly sit in the bushes with your Sling of Bitter Hatred to shoot other peoples ideas down because you like acting superior.
It’s not the dungeons that keep people playing the game, it is the loot in the dungeons. Once you get all items you need from a dungeon, there is very little reason to go in there. Little by little the game begins to die if you do not add new content.
The rest of your comment is too infantile to even comment. We all know what perception is for, there is only disagreement about how potent this ability should be.
They started to remastering old dungeons for top lvl in Cataclysm, when we had Dead Mines heroic, in MoP there were SM Cath (Cath+GY), SM Lib+Armory, Sholo remastered and in WoD we had UBRS.
However they made only some dungeons go remastered since it requires recources and Classic project doesn’t have (wo)man power to make it done.
Yeah, no thank you! They did that in Cata when they made ZG and ZA into lvl 85 heroics everyone needed to run daily. And Deadmines before that. Being forced back into those places on a daily basis was a major reason I quit in the next patch.
As for the loot from faction leaders, you are basically proposing adding world bosses into enemy capitals. This would just finish off any remaining minority faction surer than any lack of AH items or dungeon groups. Or it would be phased like the assault on UC in Wrath. Yay lat’s bring back one of the most hated changes to overworld, phasing people. The magnitude of how stupid the idea is either way can not be overstated.
As for the racials, I don’t much care for PvP so I can’t comment there, but I bet it’s as stupid as the other stuff you proposed.
Your ideas are bad and you should feel bad.
Translation: BS is now mandatory for War and Pala tanks, Enhanting is now mandatory for all casters on top of Tailoring. You also have to run those rehashed instances forever for the recipe drops, just to have it taken by a green alt, or strongarm your guild to farm it with you. /golfclap
no man this is enough i think. blizzard dividing all player base with that diffrent games in the end they die so quick like tbc today. even with classic fresh it gonna die more. i feel it in ah. all primals and ores drop tooooo much on my server.
i feel your dissatisfaction i feel same with tbc about racials and arena imbalance but it is what it is. best hope is wotlk with changes will save wow we hope.
Most people playing this game are raid loggers. It’s how you are supposed to play this. PvP players are weird, it’s like competing in super smash bros tournaments.
This has nothing to do with acting superior, if you cant see how flawed your idea is then you are more naive than i thought:)
Honest question, did you expect any of this to actually get implemented in a tbc classic refreshed?
And no, i dont come up with new ideas to an already existing game. Partly because im realistic enough to know that the ideas wont really be implemented anyway. Blizzard very very rarely listens to their playerbase, something that retail is proof of for example.
And also, just like yours, my ideas suck:)
You are right, most people only do the dungeons for the loot. There are 16 heroic dungeons in tbc (roughly counted), already people struggle to find groups for some of the heroics. Imagine adding another 20 dungeons, there will be even more groups who cant find people. Beacause everyone is looking for different loot in different dungeons.
Even by adding more dungeons, you still only need 18 pieces or so (equipment). Once you got those items, you wont be doing the new 20 dungeons anyway. In later patches you wont be doing heroics at all, since you can get carried in kara/za/t5 raids by your guild anyway.
With that logic, every single racial should be reworked then. Beacause more or less every racial can be very strong in spesific scenarios.
I for one dont mind perception, considering rogues are gods in pvp anyway, giving them another counter is good for the game.
One concern about all this was lifted by Johnnydot; if they were to do a fresh TBC with new ideas and keep old TBC they’re splitting the playerbase quite a lot. With the upcoming fresh classic, we’ll have:
Retail WoW
Classic WoW
Classic+ WoW
Classic TBC
A classic WLK seems very likely as well. I find the whole WoW franchise to be in a very weird place right now. I personally prefer TBCC over retail, but the design of TBCC relies on “new” content being released. So far they’re drip-feeding us old content in order to simulate the experience back then, but once they run out of old content to feed us with TBC is over. I don’t think they’ll make new content for TBC, but even if they did, what would that content be? Would there be a new T7 for TBC? If yes, would they eventually go on to a TBC T8? I don’t think that that would be a good idea because it would inevitably lead to power creep (which, arguably, the original TBC itself suffered from).
A big problem WoW has is the reliance on vertical progression to keep players engaged. It doesn’t really create content with good replay value. You’re not replaying a dungeon because you think it’s fun, you’re replaying it because you need something from it, and once you get it you’ll embrace this kind of attitude:
I’ve become quite disillusioned with the charms of loot. I accept it for what it is in TBCC but I do not think the mechanic of “gearing up” is particularly good. Raid progression is fun. You need better equipment to fight more difficult encounters, but eventually you reach a point where the equipment makes the encounter trivial, at which point it ceases to be fun. The power fantasy might be fun for a while but I don’t think it’s sustainable. No, you’ll want new and more difficult encounters to test your newfound mettle. For me it’s not the gear that makes raid progression fun, but the struggle of overcoming challenges alongside friends.
Retail WoW has been on a downwards slope for a long time, but I think that their design of mythic dungeons is quite good. Play one dungeon enough times and you will get tired of it, but it was nice to have a difficulty mode that was scaleable. While I was active in Legion and BFA I never really reached a point where it felt pointless for me to run a dungeon, and progressing one’s mythic rank with a group of friends was satisfying. I think that type of content has a lot more replay value and if there’s something I’d really like to see in a TBCC+ it would be such a system. But then we encounter another problem: what would the rewards be? If gear is the reward they’d have to rebalance the whole game. So as much as I would like to see a mythic dungeon mode for TBCC, it does feel like a rather wishy-washy prospect.
Speak for yourself and TBC.
Not any mmorpg should be tailored to Raid loggers.
Aka people like you who despise other things having rewards which you COULD do but you are some weirdo who hates others fun.
If you asked 100 classic players what they want to play you would get 101 different answers. Some people will play only specific versions and FRESH exists, tested many times by private servers.
Classic → TBC (so Classic Era dies) → WoTLK (TBC classic era dies). Launching FRESH kills it Era realm plus pulls quite a bit of players from current Classic Expansion (TBC already raidlogging decline so non dedicated raiders can likely just move to Classic Fresh). The playerbase would not really be split as most would go from fresh to fresh.
Someone dosnt seem to understand how gear progression is supposed to work, if a random quest or dungeon who is a whole lot easier to gatther people for and to do most likley gives gear that is at the same level as the raid gear then raiding only turns into something you do to see the content not to progress your character even futher, probbably one of the bigest problems that exists with retail is that m+ gives gear up to heroic raid level gear and therfor you can grind gear that should be locked behind a commitment, a mmo is supposed to be a social experience and not in the me and my 4 mates being social kind of way but in more of a me and 24 (or 39) other people went into this cool place and managed to kill the bosses and some of us got a few upgrades if we were lucky enough kind of way. m+ have greatly damaged that part of the game in retail and suggesting that something that have the same kind of scalable gear wouldnt do the same thing to tbc is absurd.
Not any mmorpg should be tailored to people who are not intressted in actually playing the game.
AKA people who just want rewards on par with the top for doing something easier.
