Would like to be able to to teleport to map i selected,to learn to teleport there as mage.
And also portal.
To be able to memorise, learn portal to map in azeroth.
Yea if we Mages had this ability it would become incredulously overpowered. That is why they haven’t given us the ability to teleport at any given location and/or create a portal there at will.
Warlocks on the other hand can create a summon at most locations with some help to call party or raid members tho.
…which I think is fine. Lock and mage are 2 of my favourite 4 classes. And I care for class fantasy.
I just think they should ditch the whole portal concept, and just turn flightpaths into waypoints like in Diablo. It’s not like we travel by foot or barely even by air anymore, there are portals to everywhere.
Just look at Dornagal, there are portals to every zone in the expansion, and a portal to Stormwind/Orgrimmar portal room, wich is full of portals to every other expansion city, full of its own portals to that expansions zones.
Whenever i go do my weekly mount hunting rotation, i spend more time jumping through portals than i do clearing old instances. Might aswell reduce all those portals and loading screens inbetween into a single waypoint click per travel. Portal jumping is no more fun and immersive than waypoint travel.
This function should have only shaman and reason ? Why not
Yeah its not enough we barely move our characters around the world and sit in one place and que to evrything and get teleported lets just do nothing and get teleported to any map coords…
Two expansions ago, Blizzard treated even flying as premium content that you had to unlock after a serious grind. So, your request will likely never come to fruition.
Please no. i HATE waypoints. I hated it in FF, and I will hate it in every single game I play unless it’s some weird futuristic game I would never play. We need this game to take a step back and aknowledge the world again, not further encourage the endgame slot machine it feels like. That, or make two versions of retail. One where the world/RPG is in focus, and the other where the players that only care for what you seem to enjoy, just gathering items for the sake of getting new items.
I am sooooo incredibly thankfull they introduced classic back in 2019. I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy it again, but holy moly there are a lot of elements from that game I absolutely love, and sorely miss having on retail. The big shame with classic, is that it doesn’t progress in the classic form. It slowly erases itself into what we have today. I do enjoy retail too, but it’s two completely different games with very little in common. I just sorely miss that the classic game actually progress and expand into all the zones we have on retail today. Never happening, but suggestions like the one you just made just made me want to rip my hair out. I do’t want to keep progressing away from the playstyle I got hooked on originally. No other game out there offers it, and it’s a huge shame that even WoW itself went completely away from it. One could hope that since they keep experimenting with classic, they could find a way to progress classic next to retail through the original spirit of it.
Well, i mean, just because the option is there, doesn’t mean you have to use it. If you prefer to walk or fly, nobody’s stopping you
I just dont see the difference between jumping through portals, or taking a waypoint, except the waypoint saves me a couple of loading screens.
Ill even give you a example:
Every week i do 3 raids for mount drops, Antorus, Ny’alotha and Sanctum of Domination.
My journey starts in Dornagal, use the Legion Dalaran hearthstone, one loading screen, then use the transporter to the Exodar, second loading screen, then the transporter to Antoran wastes, three loading screens. Then i ask the NPC at the end of the raid to take me back to Dalaran, four loading screens, followed by the portal from Dalaran to Stormwind, five loading screens. I then take a portal to either Uldum or Pandaria depending on where Ny’alotha is, six loading screens. After completing Ny’alotha i hearthstone back to Dornagal, seven loading screens. Portal from Dornagal to stormwind, eight loading screens, quickly followed by portal to Oribos, nine loading screens, from where i take the portal to Korthia, and after ten loading screens and a short walk finally arrive at the last raid, Sanctum of Domination.
Jumping from portal to portal to portal, and a total of 10 loading screens, inbetween wich i don’t see or discover anything interesting, or anything i haven’t seen a hundred times before. All of this could be reduced to 3 waypoints, 3 loading screens and nothing of value would be lost.
I was talking regarding just those mage abilitys. And i would love classic retail…But the game evolved. And thats that.I rather play actual retail then classic.
I didn’t know about teleporting in FF14 until way too later. I was just getting everywhere manually.
It was terrible. I just assumed it was like WoW and wouldn’t have instant teleport to anywhere. I felt like an idiot when I realised.
Even in TBC Classic I did quest and the next quest was to go back to where I’d just been and do one thing. I was thinking:
“Really mate? I was just there. Why didn’t you ask me to do this the last time you asked me to go there, one quest ago?”
I guess it wasn’t all that clear - the portal system is also a bit out of hand. Not necessarily that much on Azeroth itself(because you have the option to travel “by foot”. Playing Shadowlands, I did however feel locked into multiple sandboxes where every zone was disconnected. It wasn’t even a feeling. They were. That is an issue I do not want to face anymore of. The portals themselves fit the class fantasy of mage and druid, and I am fine with them as long as the world still has a travelling option “by foot”. I love the tram, boats, skyriding or just ground mounting - but I do also use portals. My two main characters have portal spells(mage and druid). I also have multiple teleporter devices/toys, gathered through 19 years playing.
I just fear another Shadowlands, with sandboxes instead of an open world, fit for RP(which I don’t actually do, other than perhaps in my head).
