Tell me your best memory of this game

Everytime i hear players talk about their best time in the game it’s always Vanilla , TBC , Wrath or the first expansion started in. It’s like no good memories can be formed outside of that bubble.

So tell the most memorable time you had in WoW , was it in Vanilla, TBC and Wrath ? Did you start in mop or wod or legion or bfa and you think that was the best time you ever had in this game ?

It weird to me how someone who been playing this game for over a decade ago , their best memory was equally 10 years ago. Surely they must have hit some highs between those 10 years ?

Cata and MoP is the source of all my favorite memories.

But my absolute favorite memory would be when I joined back in early cata and my guild master and his girl friend were running me through heroic dungeons as a new player, basically told me I didn’t know how to play (in a nice way), and then taking me to target dummies afterwards to teach me my rotation better and taking me into dungeons again.

When my and my mate entered iron forge for the first time as lvl 10 paladin and warriors. Bought full grey items from the “vendor” with the spoils of dead trogs.

We then ventured towards the wetlands through the valley and encounter our first ever orc NPCs which we thought were players. It took us about 2mins to kill one due to it being a red 13 lvl.

Once we managed to the wetlands we realised it was full of spiders that we couldn’t kill and we ran back.

No idea why that sticks in my mind.

That was like day 2 of launch.

Many are of vanilla due to how vast the game felt. And how polished it was considering what MMOs were out at the time.

Something very similar happened to me in TBC. I did play in vanilla and i did some raiding back then.

But in TBC people were calling me S**t and you know i would bark back. The problem with players who tell other players they suck. Is that they are never constructive , they never help those players to get better.

Anyways i wanted to raid , and i was shadow priest at that time. I didn’t know anything about hit rating , i gemmed any old rubbish , i didn’t have the crafted set even though i was a tailor. I had mix of dungeon gear and pvp gear.

So yeh for about 3 months i just kept being told i suck , you suck. Then i decided enough was enough of pugging , it’s the puggers obviously they are just toxic. I registered and applied for a raiding guild. They repsonded hey thanks for the app , but your talents all wrong , your gear sucks are you even attuned ?

But they took me on board anyways because needed a shadow priest. So one of their priests told me to go on Ventrilo channel and basically went step by step guide how to play a Spriest , we went to a dummy. He explained what reps i needed , what gear would be achievable upgrades for me. He went through alot of talents explaining why they were good choices to have.

Literally in those 2 hours i had turned from a complete noob , to player who knew how to play the game. Litteraly , we went through rotations , i knew where to go. He told me about maxdps website and other sources.

This guy litteraly spent 2 hours of his free time to explain a noob like me how to get good. Because of him , my game experience just improved vastly. Like 1000% suddenly raiding was achievable for me. Getting the good loot wasn’t a thing i just stared at players in Shattrath.

The same guild were into pvp and started doing arenas with me , sure i sucked but i got better , i got arena points. It was awsome.

It’s sad to see players aren’t that helpful anymore in game. I mean even in my guild we got a player who is struggling to hit that +10 mark , he’s timing 9’s no problem but getting invited to 10’s or timing is a real struggle.

Guildies just tell him to try harder and pug more instead of hey i got a 10 key you can join mine and walk them through it on discord.

The worse response i see on these very forums and trade chat alot , when players are asking about something in the game. Their response is " It’s called google" /sigh

The achievement to kill the leaders of the opposite faction when it was 1st new. Had some great wpvp back then. Or the southshore /tarren mill chaos that soon grew in numbers very quickly with ppl of all levels taking part.

legion my favorite expansion to date I think. loved practically every raid besides tomb of sargeras, think the transmogs and mounts that came out of that expansion are still the best any expansion produced, PvP for alts was amazing because there was 0 need to set foot in PvE due to trinkets being disabled and pre-determined stats, only ilvl really mattered and even then the difference between a week old alt and a main was like 4-5%.

classes I played at the time felt really clean and fun as well, and the expansion added Mythic+ which I still today consider one of the best additions to the game ever.

Best memory was probably when I was entirely fresh to the game and running into Darnassus for the first time in Vanilla. That music hitting and all that just made it all so fantastical. There’s plenty more, like running Shadowfang Keep for the first time and getting all that cool music with the cool lore of the dungeon.

Have plenty more, like running 5 man heroics in TBC, farming primal fires in Nagrand for my mages fire set. Doing tons of Arena, running through all the TBC raids for the first time was very memorable.

Wrath is when I really started to PvP more and play around on multiple classes getting to max level so I was doing a lot of content then on alts, and Ulduar is of course one of my favorite raids still even as much as I dislike vehicle fights.

Cata is when I lost interest in regular raiding and went with LFR which was hit and miss. Cata I mostly just did PvP and that’s all I remember it for ah and the early heroics were great, the PvP was great. Don’t have too much fond MoP and onward.

It’s almost like you either watched the video called “Why you’re not having fun in MMOs anymore” or Asmon reaction to it, did I guess correctly?

I have had good experiences/memories in all expansions apart from the one I started in (TBC). Even in Cata the expansion that made me take a very long break holds good memories.

Wrath for me.

After spending over 30 days farming i finally got my Time Lost Proto Drake

Since then though I’ve had terrible luck with rare mounts lol

One particular death of our healer on heroic Sethek Halls during TBC.

She got charged by one of the Kaliri (aka giant flying birds) elites once and she got knocked back on the air, then a second kaliri combo charges her on the midair so she smacks high up the wall and dies. Becase she was A holy priest, she stood in a sad state up the wall as a spirit of redemption.
The rest of the group (it was a guild run) was hysterical with laughing at the sight while she was really mad and ragequit the group.

That’s a hard question, there have been many best memories.
Vanilla: Everything new, discovering that Druids are the most awesome class ever.
TBC: Getting the Champion of the Naaru title. Doing the Fast Flightform questchain. Meeting a great friend i still am in contact with. Tanking.
WotLK: Levelling all classes to max. for the first time. Tanking.
MoP: Scenario’s, man i loved running scenario’s. Finding a “hidden” pet on my hunter.
WoD: Getting the item to tame a felwolf. Completing Pathfinder on the first possible moment!!!
Legion: Joining a discord for calm casuals and running M+ and Raiding.
SL: Old fashioned grind for the Bound Shadehound.

Just to name a few  So it’s not only from when i started.

Ooh i just remembered, WoW’s 15th birthday and the old Alterac Valley BG event. Not just levelling a load of alts, but especially one moment when i was on one of my hunters. I was defending a tower and one angry Orc warrior was trying to grab it. Everytime he ran up the stairs i had a knockback ready and every time he got launched from the tower. it was like a classic comedy scene from Laurel and Hardy. Man i don’t think i ever laughed so hard when he got knocked back for the umpteenth time  (you had to be there i think  )

Vanilla, tbc and wotlk was easily the best time for me.
All my friends played.
The server community was very active.
Wow was still young and fresh.
Felt like everyday we did some crazy stuff for crap n giggles.

Rose tinted glasses? Maybe.
I have been able to recreate most of it in classic though I miss playing with a lot of friends that have moved on to other games.

Cata was when things started to go downhill for me in wow.
Friends stopped playing.
Game started changing for the worse.
I started taking longer and longer breaks.
Game started to feel old with newer and better games launching constantly.
Server community died or moved servers.

I have great memories and experiences from every expansion but the majority and probably the best ones are from the early era since that was the time that I played the most and enjoyed the most.

As a raider, killing a boss after nights of wipin on is a good memory. So I tend to dismiss the negative stuff out of the game, because focusing on negative is what makes me hate BFA. Yeah, it’s obviously hard to enjoy and expansion and having good memories if your guild dies on every single patch…

i got plenty of good memories and they re mainly from wrath. i did have other nice moments after wrath but no near the amount of it.

having told those stories a couple of times already on here i ll start with something recent.

yesterday i ran a low m+ mists with my shaman and the tank asked us to bring invis potions and that he will make a big pull at the start.

i went back to town, bought the potions, thought aww yeah i got my link ready and everything…
…and then he pulls the first pack of the little guys only. had me wheezing for some reason.

I have many memories of this wonderful and old game.

I’ll spare you the usual drivel that you can hear from anyone and I’ll share one terrifying, but memorable moment I experienced in late Vanilla.

It was my first character (this guy I’m posting on) and I entered Western Plaguelands for the very first time.
The scenery really grabbed 14-15 year old me and it felt genuinely dangerous.

I had barely set foot in these festering wounds of death when I spotted a silhouette in the sickening mist ahead of me. Whether or not the shape intended to make its presence known, I do not know. But as soon as I laid eyes on it, it promptly vanished into thin air, blending in with the bleak fog surrounding the hills around us. All I could see were the now lifeless dirtroads circulating the area, leading you to Uther’s tomb, Andorhal and back to Chillwind Camp.

Frozen in fear, I darted my eyes around in a desperate attempt to locate the ghostly being, only for it to appear behind me and ambush me.
It lasted only a few seconds. This bony creature; once a man, wearing dark leather clothes and a red hood draped over his undoubtedly ghoulish features stood over my corpse with an expression of cannibalistic glee. Were it not for the band of allied adventurers appearing in this dreadful wasteland, I am sure that the abomination would have devoured my remains.

This was the first time I saw this monster. It would be many moons before I spotted him again.
This time, in the bustling city centre of the ruined Shattrath, I found him. And this time, I saw his rotten face in its full horrific glory.

I am aware that revealing the name of this vengeful spirit is against the rules. But because I do not want intend to smear his name, I dare to tell you all that this undead rogue was called Boca. And like me, he resided on the Dunemaul EU realm in the days of yore.

Thank you for your time.
