do you have to be a frost mage or use deathfrost weapon enchant to defeat the boss?
Any frost damage works really. That can be a weapon enchant or a class ability if your class has one. I’ve been able to solo it on a variety of characters that don’t have a way to do frost damage (with enchants). There’s some other enchants that work as well (but some are not that great).

Just google it, theres a rare from 3 expansions or so ago that drops a crate of puppies trinket that deals frost damage that kills the boss, theres probably other ways.

As a priest, I used a snow blaster toy from Winterveil. Then I used my Barov bell from Scholomance with a dagger, Power Infusion, and the fiend pet, it still was not enough to break the ice, so I had to wait 10 more minutes for the bell and do it again, it worked. Too painful and overly complicated farm anyway, I am not trying again.
