Temple of Sethraliss - lightning ball barrier

Yesterday I got Temple of Sethraliss on an alt with LFG.
I am a very casual player, just occasionally running normal dungeons to level. I got stuck with the second lightning ball barrier. It was my first time there so I didn’t knew it’s that annoying…on normal difficulty. I kept trying but couldn’t pass it fast enough to reach the group in time.

The group didn’t want to wait and moved on with the boss, I felt ashamed and frustrated and knew that they will kick me, and even if they don’t, I am not contributing, so I left.

I then searched in wowhead for advice how to pass it and found more unhappy people about it. One of the comments is:

“The first barrier is bad enough, the second is a heck of a lot more difficult. The idea is to find gaps and go through but if you touch one of the balls, even brush it, you’re flung back to the beginning and need to try again. And if you get stuck over and over in a LFG group they will either run off and leave you or kick you instead. It’s probably one of the top 5 worst dungeon construction mechanics Blizzard have ever devised.”

I wouldn’t mind if it was on M+, but on Normal…?

Inbefore people jump on me who much I lack skill and how bad I am - this is Normal difficulty. It’s for casual and also slower players, who are being unnecessary put into a challenge to try to pass the barrier AND in the same time might be treated badly by their team mates because this is LFG.

I don’t think we need this, really.

I think this might just be your computer, are you quite stuttery?

If not, take your time with it. It’s not a race. Tilt your camera forward to an almost birdseye view and take it one wall at a time, only passive when it’s safe, 9/10 of the times you have plenty of time to check, so don’t try and rush.

Or roll warrior and just heroic leap it.

Yes, my comp is not very good.

The issue is I can’t take my time with it because the group rushes forward and engages the bosses further, and the longer I try the bigger is the chance to be kicked so I get even more frustrated and fail even more.

I just think this part shouldn’t be that difficult on Normal.

This isn’t a high bar. If you want the game changing over this and feel so socially anxious that you leave the group over failing once or twice then no amount of changes to the game will lower the bar enough.

Sorry but no.

How do you know how many times I failed, so to write “once or twice”?
Sorry, but no.

Also, it’s not “game-changing”.
And usually it’s because of such sharp attitude that makes me not want to do dungeons.

This is on you not on your group.
Run to a spot, where the barrier will safely pass by and proceed to the next, within 2 or 3 steps you have passed it.
You won’t be faster if you get pushed back over and over.
If the group is good enough to down the boss without you, there is little harm done, if they fail they should have waited or kicked you.
If you get used to this puzzle, you will still fail occasionally, when you try to rush through, however you will get it in the vast majority.
Just take your time to get used to it.
Take your time, do it.

If you message them that you’re new and don’t know how to deal with this, most people will understand it and wait for you or even give you some advice (If they are a druid, they can let you ride).

But if you just keep silent and spend 15 mins doing it, you can expect a kick.

Even though the community seems really toxic, that’s not really the case in my experience, yes there are a bunch of loud toxic players but way more nice and helpful people that just remain silent for 90% of the time.

In germany there is a saying which means something like “only speaking people can be helped”.

Good advice, thank you.

Leveling in general is mostly people on their nth alt character rushing through.
With the (nonexistant) difficulty of the dungeons there is nothing to change that.

If you say that you are a beginner and ask for help most people will be happy to have something take them out of their stupor and help you out.

I say most, from time to time you meet unfriendly people - don’t take it personally if they kick you from a dungeon, it’s their fault, not yours!

With Blizzard wanting their game to be so accessible, you’d have thought there’d be some cheese for it… at least in normal and heroic.
