So you went alliance due to racials and BG queues?
Back in the day, 2005, the majority of people had in general less of an idea of the impact of racials, and the large majority of ppl chose alliance, even as Blizz did try to make it tempting to go horde, they really did.
But people just didn’t read in before picking something back then I guess? Either way, by aesthetics, most ppl picked alliance.
Now gaming is different. People come prepared, and well informed, and have a backlog of 15 years of warcraft. En masse people go horde. You think the sense of aesthetics has changed this much, or could it perhaps be, that people like to play what is best?

But you just said you can’t pick a faction due to aesthetics. Please don’t contradict yourself.
Can I have some numbers on that. Even back in vanilla you had more queue time as horde then as alliance, while you claiming there were more alliance then horde.
Source: Myself since I played horde since launch. Altho queues back in the day were server based so could have just been my server were more horde heavy, would still love some numbers tho.
I think every server except for bladefist and burning legion were alliance favoured. If you were on another server than I am just mistaken.

That one was implemented later? Either way I have no way to back things up, though, by looking at the data available then (was it warcraftrealmscom??) you could see alliance was on average higher pop. I can not PROVE that however.
Would not be to surprising either since retail is very horde favored that people just went horde due to them playing horde in retail. If i recall right main big thing that happend in retail was sometime in MOP when beastslaying gave 5% damage vs beasts and there was a raid with many beasts in it. And every top alliance guild just rerolled horde for the troll racials. It just caused a mass exodus to horde.
That was by far a bigger exodus then what merc mode caused.
Not very likely. For the implementation of classic, more likely people just looked at what is best for PVP and then rolled horde.
You can also very well see it of the percentage of alliance that do PVP: it seems to be the faction to go to if you have no interest in PVP to begin with.
And the reason is the racials. What I am saying is what has shifted is the people who also like to do PVP, is now lower on alliance than it used to do. And this has to do with information itself; the well awareness that horde racials are better. So people who do want to PVP do not go alliance, and people who specifically have no interest in PVP do go there.
Which is pretty ironic they rolled horde for superior racials. One could argue that a good player will get more juice out of the alliance racials then horde, except the meme racials ofc such as dranei/Nelf etc.
But probably the biggest reason to go horde is simply, you have more pvpers to play with. The community for pvp is just way bigger on horde.

Overall I agree with what you say but 2 things:

I know that what these peabrain zugs are saying is true: some of them picked horde because their guilds or friends picked horde. I was in the same situation, my retail guild all chose horde together at classic release and before that we had a guild meeting. Only 2 or 3 players out of 150ish players had the balls to say “no i will choose my own way” and most went with what the guild chose.
But what these monkeys are evading here isn’t their personal choices. It is the question: “then why did your guild or friends chose horde all together?” Again, I know from my personal story again, is that they did because a. they wanted to be on the majority side. b. they wanted better racials in pvp AND pve. -
So here is my second point: I think you are wrong about them picking their races for pvp racials. I think a more important factor is pve. I agree that horde racials are better in pvp too but alliance has somewhat useful racials in pvp as well, even if they are more niche.
But when you look at pve side of racials, horde has a few massive, substantial, performance increasing racials like bloodfury, berserking while alliance has almost nothing (5% increased intellect lol yeah). This makes it so that horde has clearly better racials in PvE, better racials in PvP, so is a better choice overall. That is exactly what my 150 guildmates from retail were thinking when they chose horde.
The only offset to this was paladins being alliance only in classic, which isnt the case anymore in TBC. And more minor buffs to horde like bloodfury effecting spellpower etc. and voila - a 14% shift from A to H in 1 month.
When you ask them they will just say “aesthetics” “friends” etc. tho, kappa.

If the deaths are 50/50 and the faction balance is 40/60, doesn’t that mean that alliance players, individually, die more often than horde?
Something smells fishy with your data. When most servers are horde favored and horde dominated and horde is more inclined to engange in wpvp, which let’s face it, it’s a gankfest for honor gain, do you honestly expect us to believe the deaths are 50/50? Show the data, please.

This is a much needed change and I hope to see it back very soon. Tricky to be competitive in PvP when Alliance can get 3 matches in for every 1 match Horde gets in.
No they won’t and you know why? They just open guid that says: “Best arena racials are of Undead and Orcs” “Best PvE class+race combo is orc hunter and orc warlock with Troll Mage and Troll shaman following close.”
Unless you shake that meta stereotype things will get worse for the Alliance with more QoL arriving for the Horde.
When does it continue? Did they just said that so we be quiet?
Man, half of my guild is already cancelling their subs until p2 because horde has literaly nothing to do apart from raid logging.
Blizzard, just ignore these bunch of people that get their opinion on youtube and turn it on! It’s about time because the gear diff. of alliance and horde wont get smaller, it’s just getting worse.
