As the title says, with latest NVidia GeForce Driver that should support Dragonflight Launch, the texture flickering in WoW is back.
It was a known issue with drivers from the past; an issue that got fixed, then randomly kept coming back.
It’s back in full force on this one too and I felt like to report that here too.
To anyone experiencing this issue, I suggest we write on NVidia forums and tell them to fix this asap.
If you have flicker try clearing shader cache before starting game if it go’s away please do tell cos that would explain why i have system freezes after few days of running the game and not when running game straight after driver update cos thats when shader cache gets invalidated.
If had these flickering issues in past as well on my gtx 1080 upgraded to a 6900 XT then and it went away, if seen minor flickering issues and blinking waterfall at the end of spires of ascension dungeon so far as well as few glitches that if seen with Nvidia users as well.
Really a shame Blizzard is releasing an expansion at broken state.
If been experience huge amount of full system freezes since 9.2.7 not even replacing memory with spare kit fixes this.
He wasn’t talking about stuttering. He was talking about FLICKERING, which is something nVidia ADMITTED was a fault with their driver implementation, and rolled out a driver patch for, TWICE.
However whatever fix they roll out for it seems to get reverted whenever a new driver version releases.
Stuttering happens because shader compilation is not working as intended, flickering atleast before it was fixed early shadowlands deleting shader cache seemed to fix the issue like running cleanmgr and checking clear shader cache i mean.
I am curious if deleting shader cache fixes it again cos if it does that means they broke it the same way again, it would’t surprise me if this is what is causing many other issues as well.
edit: if you do not understand yet, clearing shader cache means generating new shaders, generating new shaders causes stuttering, corrupted shaders causes flickering atleast that is why it was flickering early in shadowlands if its back i would not be surprised if its caused by same bug again.
As an Nvidia user I get a lot of flickering textures in Revendreth mostly from the bushes scattered around the landscape, it can be quite jarring at times. The issue also happens in Ardenweald with the lighting around torches and flames where z fighting occurs resulting in a flicker which is wide spread in that zone. It does not happen all the time just occasionally.
Im seeing brazier flicker on new zepelin tower outside ogrimmar or blinking waterfall at spires of ascension, as well as bit minor flickering textures sideways of the stairs on my 6900 XT but very minor i am just having system freezes especially gotten worse since 9.2 bassicly since last mythic season.
Im not sure what is going on it seems to happen less frequently by the looks of it if vsync is off which is strange cos gpu is using more power and reaching even 500 fps in rare case
I have the same issue with the new driver (526.98) from nVidia. As soon as I updated the driver, because according to nVidia is Dragonflight ready, the flickering came back.
Prio to the update, my driver was 516.94.
I revered the driver back to 516.94 and my flickering is completely gone. So until nVidia fixes their issues again with their drivers I will not update to the latest.
It’s blizzard’s fault not nvidia… how can you think otherwise? Even Overwatch 2 works perfectly with nvidia cards so this is the wow team that just sucks at their job.
Its not Nvidias fault, its just the new expansion that is poorly optimized, but there is no shame in that, all their expansions start out like that, and this expansion actually did very well on launch, compared to other expansion.
