So tried a name that was taken as alot of names are these days (i know not a big deal for alot of players). Before trying that name I did a search on eu armory to see if it popped up there and it did not.
So is there a way to contact a gm to see if the name is unactive as in on a old account and they might delete it for me? I heard about people making tickets for this kind of stuff and getting help.
I saw some time ago someone mentioning that if an NPC has that name, it sometimes pops up as the name is unavailable, and that could be the reason why no char is comming up in the armory
But I don’t think you can anymore, I believe it is automatic now
If it’s not in the armoury and it’s not available you can’t use it. It’s that simple, sorry but you can’t ask for it to made available either so don’t waste their time.
Also just to add… A name being unavailable may also be because it’s on the naughty/not allowed list… there is just one error message that covers all reasons that the name cant be used, not just because someone has it already.
Siri without the special character would likely be one such name as it is a registered trademark of Apple Inc.
I don’t think Apple can trademark Siri as in the name. Just that no one can create a product called Siri and sell it, especially if it’s an “AI assistant”.
Siri is literally just a name in many countries. My own among them.
Though I am quite sure Apple would kick down the doors of new parents and demand royalties for any babies named Siri if they could
Of course, why we’re still doing the one-name-one-server rubbish that we’ve been stuck with for 15 years now is beyond me. Far inferior games have found far superior ways to handle character naming than WoW, and I’m not sure why.
There was this webcomic… I don’t remember the name, but it was kinda popular. It was about a guy playing an MMO and the first episode was about him choosing a name. Everything was taken. Everything. In the end he was really frustrated and wrote something like “Ohforgodsake” and it worked.
