#1:
One employee wrote that they had to skip meals to pay rent and that they used the company’s free coffee as an appetite suppressant.
#2:
Another said they would only eat oatmeal and bail on team lunches because they couldn’t afford to buy food at the company cafeteria.
So you have the accounts of two employees that struggle to make ends meet. Both of which don’t explain their family situation(parter?/kids?), don’t explain their living situation (Where do they live? How much is the rent/mortgage?) and what are their any outstanding debts (if any) ?
Company cafetaria tend to be expensive, I’ve worked at companies where prices were decent but still higher than if I bought it in a store and other companies where prices were plain ridiculous for my standards like 3 euro for a single sandwich with cheese and some salad.
Both situations lack critical information and seems like they are taken out of context purely to have a story, everybody always want to earn more than they currently do especially if you ask people at the lower end of the salary scale.
What if their rent/mortgage is a lot higher than in other parts of the country, what if they had the same salary as they do now but the rent/mortgage is 200-400 dollars lower than currently. Would they still be saying they’re underpaid?
ye this is something i dont really get.
why do people feel entitled to eat in caffeteria.
or why they need to do it.
i mean i have more money then needed for eating daily in luxury restaurants yet for 2nd breakfest/lunch i eat usually either sandwich made at home or simple bun with joghurt. and then eat dinner at home after work
i mean we are talking about office workers - they need what 1,8-2k calories a day ? do they really need to eat expensive lunches at work ?
