Is it important to do this questline? What do I get out of it?
As far as I know it is the introduction quest to Pandaria. As you can travel there through portals, you only need to do it if you want the loremaster achivement for the Jade Forest.

Ahh didn’t notice the old Blizzard ran out of quest names and had to reuse them.
As I can see it is part of the covenant campaign, so it is borderline mandatory to do it. Shouldn’t take too long.
