The best era for RP

At the start of Cataclysm. I had plenty of fun at Moonglade. There have always been people around all the areas.

Nowadays RP is not half as good IMO. In classic/TBC there is noone RPing. I don’t know why they keep the RP server active there.

What was your best RP expansion/period?

Not much of a RPer.

But I remember the time on the old forum when we had the popular threads list and it was permanently populated with AD drama threads, that was pretty funny.

I have some friends who RP, Silvermoon city and surrounding area seems to be popular with some.

To be honest, whilst there are some diehard roleplayers there, and more power to them, Moonglade is…pretty much done. The PvE’rs won that battlefield, RP’ers had to retreat further and consolidate. Never forget the battle of Shatar’ograd!

True, which in fairness, I predicted, before they even released Classic.

I can think of nothing we could hate more!

Do people like…still…have this really weird idea about what roleplay is? Do people still think it is like when a couple go upstairs and talk about roleplay and get up to hijinks?

Is that…actually what people think RP is about? That’s mental… I mean, it’s hilarious, juvenile and downright creepy but is that -really- what people think?

You do know who are the main populace of places like Goldshire are don’t you?

Let’s put it this way. They don’t come from RP servers…

Oh dearie dearie me…

Best era for RP though? To be honest, from MoP through to Legion. Was running a loooong RP Campaign called “Scenario: Nightmare Green” and a -lot- happened, it was grim as hell, about nine characters died, and twice as many NPC’s that were involved with the players, and just utter horror, despair and angst. Because that is what RP is about.

I would say BFA simply because Night elf role players increased due to their hatred of the Horde and wanting revenge for Teldrassil. Legion too as it introduced areas like Val’sharah and Aszuna. As a Highborne role-player I felt very sad for the people of Azsuna and wished they would see a brighter fate then what happened to them. It’s like Night elves everywhere on Azeroth are being spat on by lore, which strangely makes people feel bad for us and love us. Examples:

  • Ashenvale (contested)
  • Stonetalon mountains (contested)
  • Feralas (contested, ruins)
  • Darkshore (ruins)
  • Teldrassil (burned)
  • Azshara (now Horde, Goblins)
  • Aszuna (ruins, all dead)
  • Suramar (now Horde, changed)
  • Shandaral (ruins)

I also like Shadowlands simply because it increased Roleplay for Sand Trolls, High elves, and Wildhammer dwarves with the new customizations.

my biggest rp moment is yet to come.
so far i did try once to join Brig at the Valley of Wisdom tawern talk but i tryharded too much

I should have tried harder to be there

Nothing is even half as good nowadays. RP is just no exception. Unfortunately.

Nah the other person who approached us was focused on some issue he had with me anyway
You know sometimes hands off approach to coaching works too :sunglasses:

Of course not.

Diehard roleplayers have no gain playing classic over retail, it’s a huge downgrade on the character customization and appearance part.
