When the trading post first got introduced I was very excited as I am a collector and there are so many cool things there to collect. But this excitement have now after more than a year turned into almost hatred. I never look forward to it anymore and it just annoys me to no end. And the reason for it is simple. Each month, I can only buy one or two items before I run out of tendies and my collector heart aches every time to the point that I almost wish they would remove the damn thing!
I know that for most people this is a non issue, they can easily save their tendies and only buy the stuff they find cool and leave the rest, but for collectors like me I want EVERYTHING and only being able to buy a tiny amount just creates extreme frustration!
Why not make it so that ALL the objectives in the trading log keeps giving you tendies, without a cap? This way, collectors can actually give a damn about the objectives and work their buts of to be able to buy everything (I for one would love that, I like a grind if I have a clear goal with it), and people who don’t care that much can just do enough objectives to get their monthly reward.
Please, Please Blizz! Give us collectors a way to grind enough tendies to buy everything, I beg you!
Imagine the rage posts about players complaining about being forced to PVP to get tender. Or to raid to get tender. or to do every single thing in the list to get every last tender.
You just have to ask yourself which of these items are really cool and I must have.
I have around 8k tender just now. Last month I bought 3 or 4 things. Most months I might buy 1 thing. Some months I buy nothing.
I don’t need a pink cloak that I’ll never wear. I don’t need another surf boad sword.
Although a goblin surfer mount, now that’s interesting. I might even use it on one of my alts.
Y u have so much stuff on the shelves? I want to buy EVERYTHING but when i open up my wallet i can only buy a few things. This makes me supermad and there arent enough hours in the day to grind gold to get everything.
I’m being flippant but wow shouldnt be designed so ocd people can get everything. Make choices.
This is not a supermarket, it’s a game. And it’s a grindy game, it always have been. So why not make it so that people that want to can actually grind for it?
You’d turn something fun into a massive chore every month.
Players hated being forced into PVP for MOP cloak (thankfully they listened back then and this is one the few lessons they’ve remembered to not forget).
There’d be complaints that Raiders get more Tender than non raiders.
There’d be complaints that players don’t have 47 hours a month to do just Tender grind when they want to push M+ keys.
People already complain about most things in the game, so no matter what you do people will still complain. And the most important thing; this is not for any kind of power, it’s just cosmetics. And if you are really in to collecting something, you don’t mind doing a bit of stuff you are not used to or don’t like.
And as I wrote, for most people this wouldn’t change a thing, as like you they are ok with just buying a few things and having more tendies than they know what to do with, so there is no reason for them to grind everything.
But why not have that option for us that DO want to do that?
Take it as an opportunity to grow out of your bad habit.
When achievements were first introduced, I also wanted to do all of them for the sake of it. Soon after they implemented so many more of them, it grew impossible to me to get them all while still enjoying the game - by now i no longe care about achievements at all unless they give a nice title.
PS: Also remember that TP stuff is supposed to come back to the TP later on, so just be patient and you might get all of the stuff anyway - just like I have to be patient till I can finally solo BfA mythic to collect mogs.
Like I said, this has nothing to do with power, if it did then that would be a whole other question. This is purely for cosmetics. And the only people uncapping the tendies would affect are collectors that want to grind Everyhing.
You would not be affected at all. Like you said, you have over 8k tendies right now and are fine with just buyimng a few things you find cool. So why would you feel any need to grind out an optional Cosmetic currency??
There are a lot of players with this (or close to) mindset.
Many of them would resent being forced into a massive chore every month.
This is how the game works. Without a cap players will feel compelled into completing the whole log every month.
Soon they will resent the fact that the Trading Post even exists.
Your resentment about having to choose only a few items each month would pale into insignificance in this.
You should actually really think about it carefully. Missing out a few months won’t hurt you unless you suffer from FOMO. Most of those items come back frequently.
The TP has never excited me and I have purchased so few items hence I am sitting with 15K tenders to blow, well that is until they day something really blows me away.
Come on, I know you are smarter than this. Very very bad comparison. No one has ever walked into a supermarket and thought “I want to buy everything”. You want to buy all the food that you can’t eat alone so it rots? All the clothes even those you can’t wear like kids clothes? Come on.
The older generation (the boomers) had more wealth than millennials and gen z, we are actually the ones who will never be able to afford what they could easily afford.
You see it as a bad habit, but for me, collecting stuff is a big part of my enjoyment of the game. And I know that is true for many people, as everytime wowhead post the items for a new month, there are always lots of comments asking for ways to earn more tendies.
And your comparison to achivements dosn’t really work. You still have the opportunity to grind for them if you want to, but with the trading post there is no such option. It is impossible to grind for more tendies, and I am just asking them to give us that option if we really want to.
And yes, most if not all of the stuff gets back to the post eventually, but that doesn’t help as at the same time, even more new stuff is added at the same time…
It’s not meant to be something you can buy everything from every month. I spend my tendies every month. I rarely have much to carry over. But stuff comes round again. Whether or not I’ll ever get round to buying all the lesser bits and bobs remains to be seen.
Having to do all the tasks would be a nightmare so I really don’t welcome that. I far exceed the requirement monthly but I don’t go out of my way to do so. But I do not want it to feel mandatory to grind out every task for currency.
I’m so glad I lost my collectors mentality years ago. I don’t even like most of the stuff the TP offers except a few of the nicer mounts or the odd piece transmog. I agree that you’re not meant to be able to buy everything when it’s available that’s almost part of the fun for me and you can always save that one item you like for another time.
I know it’s not meant to be that, that is why I am asking them to change it. There are many many people that think the tenders we get is waaaay to low and are asking for a way to get more, and I for one would think this would be a good way for them to easily implement that.
And how would it be mandatory? It’s not for any kind of power and if you don’t want everything or don’t care at all then it wouldn’t affect you at all.
And you also say that you far exceed the requirement for the monthly without even trying. That is the same for me and many others, so those objectives don’t even matter. Removing the cap for the objectives would make them actually matter and will give you more stuff to work on during the month, which can be very good on “slow content” months.
And I never suggested that you would have to do ALL the objectives to get the monthly reward, just keep that as it is, but we keep getting tenders for the remaining objectives after we have earned the monthly reward. And in no way do you HAVE to do all the tasks, it’s just something you CAN grind for some extra cosmetics if you have the will and time, just like EVERYTHING else in this game, where we actually have the choise to grind for it if we want to. But for some reason we can’t grind this…
Sadly right now the only way to get more is to look out in the cash shop for items being bundled with tenders. Like TWW Epic comes with 1000 extra per account. Sometimes there is a mog that is bundled with like 250 or 300.
Because at the moment all we have to do is fill the bar. You are asking for that to be extended, and you would add a monumental number of tasks for people to need to do.
You turn something that is casual fun into a horrible chore.
So no thank you.
I have nothing against something like bumping it up to to a bigger reward but I do not welcome having to do every task going.
