The boost is kind of terrible for the game and here is why

Retail is like what it is today because there are systems everywhere, time gates everywhere, Blizzard mandated daily/weekly chores everywhere for everyone.
It is no longer about an adventure but about playing a mobile game on PC.
Even without boosts and tokens etc retail would had been just as bad as now.

For me boost is bad because of the lack of people leveling in the world. Its harder to do dungeons and groupcontent with fewer ppl around. And with more people leveling in each area, the world feels more alive and organic. For me a big part of the game is about the leveling, thats what I fell in love with 17 years ago.

Booster mages took care of that already, don’t worry.

There’s plenty of us that did this leveling thing to death in 15 years, we got the “experience” and the “feel” quite a bit tyvm.

Relax, in 2 weeks you won’t know or care who boosted.

It does not detract from my experience that someone else has purchased the 58 boost. I would just say that during the prepatch it is an issue because you get a lot of people unable to play their class but this should improve after prepatch. You can spot a boosted 58 by finding a piece of the communal gear they receive at 58.

Its core part of the game in Vanilla Classic, not in TBC since TBC is focused on max level content. You can clearly see that with the amount of max level dungeons, raids, PvP rated activities etc.

Skill floor in Classic is extremely low. Classes are very simple and people who use character boost are in most cases people who has been playing WoW for a long time. These people really don´t have any trouble with adjusting to their class in Classic.

Classic leveling was hard indeed:

The hardship of traveling to the instance and give X gold to a mage and go afk.

The immersion of watching a mage ptchew ptchew hours in a row while you bathe in a gold shower every so often.

That fulfilling feeling of having 10+ mages in your friends list.

Oh and ofc the proud moment you hit 60 and feel the accomplishment of that hard work your gold put up for you.

What’s the difference of that and buying a 58 boost again?

Nobody cares if you are okay with boosting or not.
Nobody cares about the way you see the game.
Nobody cares even if you leveled 1-60 every class of every race.
Nobody cares that getting ONE character, that gets to skip the same boring and played out again and again and again leveling process, annoys you.
Nobody does, nobody did and nobody ever will.

True but MTX make it worse. It would suck 100% without it but it sucks 200% with it included.

MTX in classic just means gameplay is better than retail but it still ruined. Its like putting a dog turd on the plate next to a fillet steak. Steaks still nice but ur never gonna enjoy it.

Except for all the ppl who DO care cus ur a lazy slug who pays to play so no one wants u in their guild or group, cos if u cant be bothered to level a char why would u be bothered to put effort into a raid or dungeon group?

Not sure what studying algae has to do with it.

A lot of players don’t care about that.

Yes, it does skip that, but wait until they get a load of the mega ganking that’s going to happen in outland.

Why do you need to suffer though levelling to be a better player and why on the same realm?

I think a good portion of the current retail playerbase only joined post Wrath. I think you’re wrong in your assumption. The OP has some valid points about existing players having earned their place. It’s bit like how Deathknights were effectively a level boost but only available to those who reached 58. I think that was probably a way better way of letting people boost.

Retail and classic players want something completely different from what they are getting. It’s just a mess all round tbh.

Ur char name absolutely sucks but ur right. There could have been a better way to go about it then with MTX. Something like if U get max rep with Scyer or Aldor u can pick one char on ur account to boost to 58.

It would still suck and Id still hate it but at least u have to put in work in the game not just swipe daddys credit card.

Wait, but why? :frowning:

Makes me cringe every time I read it lol

This reminds me a bit about how Bellular described Shadowlands as that bowl of salad with a “certain male body part” placed in the middle of the bowl.

Yes MTX makes everything worse because most of the time they are there to fix problems created for the sake of the MTX existing.

My previous post was just arguing that the main issue that lead to the retail we know is a huge departure from what made WoW great at its roots.

I think a good portion of the current retail playerbase only joined post Wrath. I think you’re wrong in your assumption.

How does that collide with what I said, that majority of todays Classic players already played the game (WoW)? I never said they played TBC…

99 % of people probably played WoW already and know the game very well

If the boost is so good for the game why isn’t it free?

Clearly people care. Just witnessed the TBC launch and it’s not even a third of the Classic launch. Naturally it was going to be lower but this is a lot lower. To be expect with these boosts etc, it’s now retail with uglier graphics.
