The Bot Epidemic: Ruining WoW Season of Discovery

This has gone too far!!

Do something about these god damn bots EVERYWHERE!

Mining, Fishing, Skinning, Farming etc…

In the last 3 days I’ve encountered and reported over 25+ bots in zones like Feralas, Tanaris, Arathi & Swamp of Sorrows…
These bots will not attack you unless you attack them, they’re mostly hunters from what I’ve seen… And if you’re not geared/skilled enought they’ll probably kill you if you attack them, (Some bots won’t attack until their target is dead). When I’m playing on my priest they’ll attack my Homunculi thinking they’re a mob most likely.

The most significant casualty of this bot epidemic is the loss of immersion and camaraderie that defines the WoW experience. Remember those days when you’d stumble upon a fellow adventurer in the wilderness and team up to take down a tough boss or complete a challenging quest? Well, with bots roaming the lands, those encounters feel increasingly rare.

Blizzard, we implore you to take decisive action against this scourge. Strengthen your anti-bot measures, implement more robust detection systems, and enforce stricter penalties for those caught using automation software. Let’s reclaim the spirit of exploration and camaraderie that made World of Warcraft great in the first place.

As players, we also have a role to play. Let’s remain vigilant and report suspicious activity whenever we encounter it. Together, we can make Azeroth a better place for all.

So, fellow adventurers, let’s band together and fight back against the bot epidemic. Our journey through the Season of Discovery should be about exactly that—discovery—not exploitation. Together, we can ensure that the world of Warcraft remains a vibrant, fair, and rewarding realm for all who dare to explore it.

Safe travels,
Kiwi

I’m also encountered tons of bots, everytime I take the zepp from Orgrimmar to UnderCity there’s at least one. And in actual leveling zones it’s insane. They’re extremely easy to spot by the way they act… Blizzard need to adress this again…

While blizzard could most certainly do more, this is a playerdriven problem. As long as the playerbase want to use their creditcard to play this game. Buying gold and using it to buy boosts and bis gear. As long as the demand from the players exists, someone will find a way to supply.

They’ve certainly evolved. Most bots are hunters but many are also cat druids, boomies, some mages, a warlock or two and my favorite… stealthed rogues!

You will find them doing rotations in the Swamp of Sorrows gathering herbs and mining. If you hear a random stealth sound there, it’s likely a rogue bot. Unsure if they exist in other areas of the game.

They’re so obvious, particularly at night, and everywhere. Zones like Arathi near Hammerfall, Feralas near Mojache, Dustwallow Marsh or Desolace in the Valley of Spears are literally full of them.

I’ve said this a few times on here now and I’ll say it again, there is a solution to the bot epidemic.

ENFORCE the authenticator on ALL accounts.

The problem will pretty much dissappear overnight. Please - can someone explain why this isn’t a solution (many are against 2FA enforcement for some reason)

Yes I know 2FA isn’t completely secure but it would put a stop to most of the stolen accounts and make it a massive hinderance to the non-stolen bot accounts as every single logon would have to be approved manually by a human on the authenticator app.

I ask myself why Blizzard wont do this?

Just do a /who for Stockades or stand outside near the meeting stone and you will see 30+ Mages going between the vendor next to the enchant trainer and Stocks. The best part is if they have capped their 5 times an hour limit they stand outside the portal and get killed by the prisoners who spawn outside. I spent days reporting and for 2 days not one appeared then I didn’t get the chance to do it for a couple of days and they are back. Whats hard to understand is if we know they are botting and fly hacking Stocks then why don’t Blizzard or is it simply a case of no resources?

My guess would be there are like 5 people working on sod, their priority is war within and dragonflight season 4.

Plus bots pay subs.

You invite someone camping the same spawn, kill, done. I do believe you should try to find immersion in something where it actually may be found, rather than maincharacter this.

While I agree with bots being a problem, immersion is the least important aspect it may or may not be breaking. The playerbase breaks the immersion, not the bots. I suggest switching games.

Blame the gold buyers. If they didn’t buy gold there would be no bots.
