The capital of Dornogal not having Unbound NPCs feels jarring

Disclaimer: this may be a phasing issue. If that’s the case then, please could we fix it?

If this is not a phasing issue then, here goes:

Problem

In zone 1’s main introductory campaign, the Unbound appear briefly around the Coreway area for that one quest where you give them instructions to repair it. A not-yet-implemented cutscene plays out where the Unbound repair the Coreway, you turn in the quest, then… all the Unbound are gone. The two factions are supposed to have reunited, with the Oathsworn welcoming the Unbound to move back into the city of Dornogal after eons of exile as a thank you for helping repairing the Coreway, and Adelgonn gets her seat back on the Council of Dornogal, but they’re just not there. No Unbound in the streets or around the Coreway or hanging out in the baths, Dornogal just doesn’t update with Unbound NPCs like you’d have expected.

If this is not a phasing issue then I find it very problematic from a story/immersion point of view that you couldn’t tell that they reunited at all, that this is supposed to be an Oathsworn and Unbound city now.

Precedent

In the next zone, the storyline involves Speaker Brinthe inviting Skitter and her kobold to come live in Gundargaz with her and a whole cinematic plays out where the kobold move into the city by the dozen with caravans, a new phase then triggers for the area and Gundargaz updates with city-wide NPC spawns: kobold NPCs can be seen throughout the city doing various things like rolling carts into town and settling, taking a bath with earthen, interacting with Machine Speaker NPCs, kobold guards are flying above the city, they inhabit buildings (and accessorily, hand out many quests), and so on.

This was fantastic, and pretty much what I expected from the Dornogal storyline, so I was surprised to see it done for Gundargaz, and not for Dornogal.

Note: there is one hidden room in Dornogal where you can find 1 Machine Speaker NPC, and another where you can find 4 “Unbound Trader” NPCs. But this is already established before the campaign, presumably Dornogal sometimes has visitors, we can also see Freysworn NPCs going about.

Suggestion

Not asking for as much as Gundargaz got here or as many updates as Valdrakken got throughout Dragonflight, aware of limitations of city spawning and how tricky phasing can be, but Dornogal is not just any earthen city or town, it’s the capital of the expansion, and the capital of the earthen allied race, so if there’s one place that deserves some flavor and story progression being shown, it’s here.

The simplest suggestion would be some Unbound walking the streets to show that yes, the Unbound did move into Dornogal. But if there’s room for more then perhaps we could consider:

  • Unbound interacting with (or just placed next to) Oathsworn to show mingling
  • Unbound taking a plunge in the SPA bath areas
  • Unbound as guards?
  • Unbound repairing or maintaining structures throughout the city (as that’s their Edict)
  • Unbound with dialogue or flavor text about, how it feels to rejoin their former brethren (possibly friends and family they left behind long ago), to move back into the city
  • one place that would be perfect for Unbound spawns is the trading area with all the merchants and profession trainers. Unbound are laborers, workers, miners, farmers, traders, so it’d make sense if they were present here.

I feel it too!

At minimal I’d hope expect at the Max Level phase that’s going around, we’d see an entirely new Dornogal reflective of the plot changes of its people through the main story quests.

  • More Unbound as they have returned to the fold.
  • More Machine Speakers, as they rejoin their kin from below and have the coreway reopened to them, no longer held dutifully by Eirich.
    • Maybe some of the Kobolds, that have unified with the Assembly of the Deep.
  • A rare notion might a slight depiction of a Skardyn in the Fissure district, non-hostile. Depicting the sanity reclamation of those forced against their brethren, but not in plain sight.

All this is to say, to depict the greatest Dornogal, narratively and visually - npcs of all walks ideally present to depict the Earthen people in one perfect example of their entire race: Their capital city.
