The CAS system was unable to initialize / can't start game since DF pre-patch

When trying to open the game, met with the error:

"The CAS system was unable to initialize: Unable to initialize CAS from build info file. Code version does not match .build.info.

Unable to initialize CAS from patch service: provided version info string(s). VersionInfo:eu. CDNinfo: eu"

Win10 PC

The steps on https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/13934 have not worked.

RESOLUTION

I have found a resolution for this issue.

The problem was in the hidden .build.info file in the World of Warcraft folder.

  1. Make sure show hidden files is enabled on File explorer
  2. Open .build.info file > MAKE A COPY OF THIS JUST IN CASE
  3. For patch 10.0.0.46313 (bottom left of battle.net launcher) edit the .build.info. file as follows:
On the retail line replace the 1st 3 hashes with: eu|1|a98bc63156e62945604ec3260ae30f0d|bd54b458762f2dd342762eb2b81ce24d|1c70c62fb5f235494c247f340312c177|
Change the build version at the end of the line to: 10.0.0.46313
  4. Save the file
  5. Relaunch WOW

Your resolution didn’t work for me, the moment you reopen the launcher, it automatically starts the latest update and replaces the version from your info.

Ran a scan and repair and didn’t get the error on my second launch. My original UI save is still gone though. >.>
