Do you remember earlier WoW expansions?
TBC, WOTLK, Cataclysm - each one of them made use of the Caverns to introduce us to pieces of content that we would never have been able to experience otherwise. And it felt special.
While I thoroughly dislike the TBC ones, I fondly remember experiencing Arthas’ downfall and assisting to the sundering alongside Illidan in the Well of Eternity.
I wish we had more of that.
When Hearthstone dropped a Galakrond-themed expansion, I kind of hoped we’d get a mini-raid where we fight the single biggest proto-drake to ever live in Azeroth. But it never happened.
Hell, think of features like Torghast.
Imagine if, instead of being set in a bland and depressing environment, it’d send us to random places and eras, so that we could see new settings with every run.
At the end of the day, the location itself is amazing and unique looking.
I just wish they’d update the caverns to their 2020 standards and added new rooms, with new instances in there.
True, but they weren’t awful because they were Carverns of Time dungeons.
They were awful because Blizzard were still learning how to make a good dungeon with interesting/enjoyable mechanics, and they also looked like hot garbage. Especially the swamp.
I especially liked the TBC dungeons to be honest. Black morass is crap but both the hillsbrand one and hyjal are something that I have very fond memories of. And I was 11 back then.
I agree with you.
They missed so many opportunities in BFA to introduce new dungeons or even raids to experience the lore of the warbringers.
With all the stuff that’s been going on with sylvanas I was really expecting that we go back in time and help her defend quel’thalas, just like we witnessed the purging of stratholme
Meh. Something I really disliked about earlier dungeons & raids was the very, very slow waves of enemies.
There’s so much waiting in these instances, it’s painful.
That’s also why I dislike the Violet Hold and was not happy to see it back in Legion for example.
I actually like black morass over durnholde keep but i really hated the stratholme one in wotlk did it 5 times for all my friends to get the mount when current and never went back .
Isn’t it because in Cata Nozdormu lost his aspect powers so the Bronze Dragonflight’s powers/duties significantly lessened? That, and instances always had to do with the theme of the expansion, which was kinda hard for MoP and WoD was already in the past so I guess they eventually abandoned the idea of ever expanding that.
i actually like the escape of durnholde, but yeah they really needed to speed up thrall a bit.
Yes, but at the same time we know because of that nozdormu will be corrupted and will mess with time. Wich means caverns of time is still very much a possibility in the future.
I wish they’d put in the Vanilla zones into CoT, they could just use Zidormi I guess.
I would like to do the old Duskwood or Redridge Mountains stories. But I don’t want to do it in classic without transmog, achievements etc. I know we can’t fly there as the zones are not designed for it but that’s fine the zones weren’t designed to be mazes either…
