You don’t play them, you complete them with your transmogs. Have a nelf for every occasion, for example. Warrior, Priest of Elune, Sentinel and so on.
Who am I to tell people how to play? If they want 50 chars it’s their choice and none of my business.
Well you can save an unlimited number of mogs if you get an addon… and now you can even gender change without issue so you have double the possibilities.

That’s quite true but you can’t have enough slots for every race/class type which is why having a cheap LV10 character on a second account isn’t that of a bad idea.
The only drawback are the lacking /emote option for RP, otherwise you can complete your character fantasies pretty much there.
Yeah every class/race type can’t fit in 50 chars… but even if Blizz were to increase the number to fit, they’d have to do it every time they add more classes and/or races in the game.
Basically they have to draw a line somewhere.
But I agree that the 50 char limit is very old and probably should be increased, since we have a lot more combos than in the old days with all these new races.

I’m baffled at the correlation that transmogging low characters is a solution to those wanting a higher character limit that would allow them to max those characters regardless of what they are wearing?
I’m also not sure about the name thing being relevant as battle net is not a new system and the limit has been 8 accounts for some time. If it’s your hobby to hold 400 names then knock yourself out.
Most of the time you just want to transmog them anyway and be done with it. You don’t need more than 25 characters to have most common wow fantasies at hand.
People likely have only two mains at the same time, myself included. Game isn’t alt-friendly enough to justify that many characters to begin with.
I have a full set of characters on this account. 49 x level 50 and 1 x Herald (level 30?). I’m very glad I can mass farm on them for things I want.
Like for the Love Rocket I will run all the eligible ones through, I’m currently doing Soundless on 26 chars a day. Low level alts on restricted accounts are worthless to me.
