You connect the servers by merging the clustersâŚ
The servers would still be as they are atm.
Also, clustered realms ensures scalability - when people return home from WotLK after 3 months there are still room on the servers

Merging the clusters is not the same as merging the servers.
I am not saying merge the servers. They should be separate servers as they are now, but connecting clusters instead of merging them would imply having a naming scheme including cluster name like Name-Server-cluster (Kerath-Firemaw-pvp1) in my case while merged clusters would only be Name-Server.
I think we want the same thing, but you seem caught up on the fact that I say merge when Iâm talking about the clusters merging. This is just wording and I think we all want one big cluster with all the servers of the same type in the end.
Yes, the âmergeâ word triggered me, but also that you want to remove the 10 char per realm. That will not be needed for connected realms.

I have 10 chars on Firemaw and canât transfer any character there from SoM for example (horde or alliance)
But why is that a problem? Transfer to Ashbringer instead for example? They are in same cluster so you have access to same guild and raids etc.
You canât do that since there isnât any transfer like that open, and it would be inferior to having all the chars on the main server.
There are NO transfers open at the moment. For SOM at least. They started out with one open realm, then closed it again and saif they would provide more options. I read that as there will be more than one server to pick of each type (pvp/pve at least).
They opened it for a while and the only server possible was Firemaw. The only reason they closed it was to solve the issue with different factions. There is no reason to expect that the options for destination servers would be any different once they open it again. Especially not since after the post made on the NA forums where they mention one Era server.
The options for different servers they talked about was specifically for wotlk.
They directly wrote they would provide more options, based on community feedback.

We need to tell Blzz to offer transfer from SoM to more servers in Era as well. Not for more character per server.

Read the bold part. That is clearly about wrath. The next section is about Era.
Wrath = more realm choices
Era = remove faction limit

This sounds promising, but as itâs Blizz I donât know.
I know that If I can only move my SoM characters to Pyrewood, I wonât move them at all. They can die with QuelâSerrar in that case.

I see no reason why all clusters of the same type are not merged/combined. It makes complete sense to have the maximum amount of people playing together.
As merges have already happened and are likely to happen in the future, the 10 character limit should be removed. It would solve a variety of potential issues.
Lastly, yes, when the merge happens the transfers should be free.

Clustering or combining. Not merging.
And the best argument in favour of this is that no naming chaos will come from combining, clustering or what you call it (=all realms stay, but you can play, make guilds etc. with tham all), as would happen if the realms got merged or consolidated (= made into one).
Plus thereâs no idea in making Era more Retaily with more that 10 characters per realm.
The simple solution would of course be to offer free transfer off SoM to any and all Era servers.

This was what I thought they announced for Era, but after re-reading I can see that this part only goes for Wrath - as what Kerath is saying.
However, Blizzard still says there will be added more options to the pool of selectable realms.
I hope they by that mean more than one of each type and not just one PvE, one PvP, one RP - especially when they also state the change comes after input from the community. We will have to wait a little more than a week to see if they beefed it again ⌠more waiting - yay!
