The dialogue

I returned to retail a few weeks ago, and what did I hear? I heard waaaay too much

The amount of dialogue is ludicrous, all I want to do is hand in a quest but before that I’ve got to sit there and listen to an NPC that sounds like it belongs on a kids TV show they watch in the morning before school, the voices are so high pitched the neighbourhood dogs started howling

And if the dialogue isn’t enough don’t worry there’s a 10 second cutscene just around the corner

I feel like wod questing has a good balance between VA / Lore moments and just easy turn ins.

Shadowlands has way too much RP / escort / VA Moments most of which dont really add any substance ( or maybe because i dont care for the shadowlands lore )

Honestly the amount of dialogue, escorts that you cant fail, cutscenes, npc’s telling me their life story, it feels like the game is playing itself more than I’m playing it, its as if I’m sat in a self driving car

Look, they can afford decent voice artists now, so they’re making the most of it. No more of just that Klingon dude from Star Trek who was in need of some work doing voices.

I couldn’t even understand first few lines from Chromie, it was just series of annoyingly high-pitched beeps.

Don’t get me started on the maw starter quests in that cave, Every single character needs to stand there for like 5 mins for no reason. I’ve heard it before…

the dialogue is also worse than ever

You know there is an option to… Turn off dialogue sound for all characters, including yours, from the Sound Options… Right?

If you don’t like hearing the game then do something about it yourself, you have the means to do it. Complaining in the forums because there’s too much voice acting is so petty.

I’m guessing you’re not a Guild Wars 2 player then, cuz you’d probably hate that game.

You get A+ for condescension, D- for problem solving.

But it doesn’t solve the problem of waiting [to hand in a quest] does it? It just makes the dialogue inaudible, you still have to sit and wait while they go through the motions.

Hell I mean if it was just a problem with the sound they could probably just have turned the sound off in one of many ways.

I like GW2 but just like in wow i hate escort quests and slow walking escort dumb npc there too. Also GW2 pvp is actually fun so i have spent most of my time doing that in gw2 so the pve rp has never been a problem for me in that game.

SL npc rp and unskippable moments are just over the top if you go with the story mode. Also i really wish they would gtfo with the escort quests or make npc’s either walk with same speed as i do run/walk.

I think the main issue is that there’s a bunch of quests that has you listen to uninteresting dialogue before you can even pick up or turn in a quest required to progress the story
Before you could just pick up or turn in quests and have the NPCs just talk to air while you left in the middle of their monologue to do stuff

That sounds like a ‘you’ problem to be honest. This is an mmorpg, you have to expect the rp aspects, which does include VA and cutscenes, otherwise what are you left with? People not caring about lore just sitting in the capital waiting for a raid group to form?

I’d say they’ve got it pretty right with Shadowlands, you need to include all elements for it truly to be an MMORPG or else it just becomes meaningless button mashing without any real point. Raiding would turn into a maths exam to maximise numbers as nobody would actually care about -why- or -who- they are fighting, and PvP would end up even worse.

Those aspects are needed, else what is it? Just an MMO?

I mean when did the gaming mentality change? Does everything have to be ‘GOGOGO’ these days? It never used to be like that.

When i leveled on release i almost quit because of kyrian story - so annoying…i was so excited when the game let me kill some mobs for quets.

Yes it never used to be like that before. Blizz tried to bring singleplayer experience but it ended up being annoyig…because people arent used to read why killing 10 random animals will save the world.

This is where there should be skip buttons, I’m sure they had this in the previous expansions?

Of course there’s an option to turn off the voices, but that doesn’t stop the ncp from explaining its life story before I can hand in the quest, the game never used to be like this

And I’m sorry but if you don’t like people stating their opinions on a FORUM then forums arnt for you sunshine
